I believe global warming is real, I just don't want to do anything about it

I can't possibly change my habits.

Well, what I just started doing had the utility company meter man perplexed. First I shut off the LEDs with the blinking 12:00, which reduced my energy use by 5 percent. And I turn off the power strip to the computer. (I had already replaced most lights with compact flurs years ago--same bulbs still working.)

But the biggest energy hog is the dryer. With the hotter days of global warming, I strung a clothes line and hung my clothes out to dry. They smell better and use solar energy.

So, I bet my energy use has really dropped a lot.

Am saving to buy solar and the first plug-in that is decent (why do I think it will be Japanese)?

Watched the You Tube on Greenspeace and the Kleenex ad campaign subversion. Very entertaining, except for what is happening. I always bought that brand. Didn't realize it was taking down virgin old growth forests in Northern Canada, and not even using recycled paper for its boxes. It's cloth handkerchiefs and recycled for me. I plan to write a letter to the CEO of Kimberly-Clark, or whatever megacompany owns the brand today.

There are things you can do. For example I choose to purchase green power for a percentage of electricity I use from the power company. This adds about $5 dollars to the power bill a month but it is a price I am willing to pay. You can switch out incandesant bulbs for compact fluorescents. These are just examples of small things you can do and not drastically effect the lifestyle you enjoy. I remember that Carter installed solar panels in the White House back in the 80s and lowered the thermostat before Raygun took over and removed the solar panels. So don't give me the B.S. that you can't make some difference....

Whether it's plastic bags, public transportation, SUVs, CFLs, recycling, I am amazed by the close-minded, stubborn attitudes I see here so often.

Sure, not everything is practical for your life or will work where you live, but I wish people would be more open to at least trying new things, learning, experimenting, trying it a few times.

We're by far not the "perfect" environmentalists, but we are continually incorporating new ideas and strategies into our lives. Some work. Some don't, but be willing to be a part of the solution.

I'm surprised that there isn't more talk about how to cope with the inevitable warming we are about to experience. Instead, it's all about trying to stop it or slow it. That's fine, but the fact is, it is going to happen anyway. I would like to read much more about how to survive (or even benefit from) the changes that are underway.
