More on the Buddha-is-Voodoo neighbor.

Today the guy cutting trees down on our lot told us "she wanted to talk to us".

She wondered why we had not talked to her for a month.

We went over there and said hi, but didn't tell her why. We thought she was quite ignorant when she said Buddhism and Hinduism were "VOODOO" while crossing her arms like she was holding up a cross. After that we decided we didn't want to talk to her anymore.

I guess some stupid preacher she listens to told her if it is NOT Jeebus it is EEEVIL.

We'll have to tell her. I don't like having to deal with ignorant people and I get real tired of hearing all about Jeebus all the time.

Some of us have other interests besides the local socially accepted obsession -- Jeebus.

And a Kwan Yin statue. She said "That's VOODOO!" and held up her arms in a cross and shook her head like it was nasty stuff.

After that I have not talked to her. I have been watering her magnolia tree which she "hates". We've had a serious drought. Her husband can't afford any frills like watering the plants.

Everybody around here is busy showing off their beliefs.

They invite me to their church, to be friendly, I say I'm not interested, and they just look baffled.

in really basic, simple terms. BUT, if you really want to make your point, you might try being nice to her.

In fact - as distasteful as it sounds - you might go out of your way to do some nice little things to her.

People learn about tolerance most easily when they see it in action.

And if she starts chattering about Jeebus, either change the subject or tell her you do not want to hear about it, that to you, religion is a private and personal matter, and Jesus said to pray and worship in private. Tell her you take what Jesus said very seriously, and you're sure she does, too.
