I heard that a Dick said that Medicare was tyranny......
now I say Democrats need to get out there and make those words the proverbial anchor around Dick Armey's neck--people need to hammer him until he's out there issuing stammering apologies and saying that's not really what he meant--or--make him fess up to it and sink him, Freedomworks, and every other politician and group who is out there loudly proclaiming that Healthcare reform will kill Grandma, all the while quietly looking for the opportunity to kill Medicare itself.

Dick Armey himself is not even the salient point here--these rightwing politicians and pundits DO NOT LIKE MEDICARE--it is part of the never ending Commie plot to destroy American as far as many of them are concerned. Healthcare reform advocates need to scream this fact from the rooftops at every opportunity. Do none of these townhall protesters ever stop to wonder how it's possible to make government small enough to drown in a bathtub without first offing Medicare? Do they really believe that all of these "guvmint is evil" politicians would leave Medicare alone if they thought for even a second that they had the chance to wipe it off the face of the earth forever?

There's only one side in this whole issue that's hostile to Medicare--and it's not the public option or single payer advocates. I generally pride myself on being a peacemaker and consensus builder in my personal life. I try to listen to all sides and look for the good points in everyone's argument, and I have done so on the whole healthcare debate until recently--I say to hell with that now, I've been pushed too far. This is war, and we will not negotiate with Medicare killing terrorists.

end rant
Thank you

Medicare-killing terrorists."

OK, I'm with you. Now let's get President Obama to say that!

4. They don't think it's a "commie plot", it's a lost opportunity to make money off misery.
They must think it's a far bigger pot than my experience says. Nearly everyone I know on Medicare spends most of their income paying premiums and buying drugs with very little left over for food, rent and utilities.

There's nothing for them to steal, but they want to take a crack at it anyway.
