Mr. President, This is your Chance to Leave a SUBSTANTIAL Mark in History:
President Obama,

You were elected with the help of progressives like me, one of many willing to get out and do the leg work for a candidate that we hope would bring real CHANGE. This was not some abstract concept to us but a goal. Many of us believe that this country can do so much better for our citizens despite being run by corporate interest working hard to keep the status quo so that their share of the pie will continue to grow. The headlines rang recently with study that most of us have known for a long time:

Income Inequality Is At An All-Time High: STUDY

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/14/income-inequality-is-at-a_n_259516.html

Corporate Interest is willing to throw huge sums at elected officials to keep in place system that only functions for a select few. The people are hurting, Mr President. You and your family have had the opportunity to travel around and hear our stories. Change, Mr President, is why you were elected and what we need.

Although you've worked hard to bring consensus on health care, I think it is apparent now that those betrothed to healthcare lobbyists and their ilk have absolutely no interest in working WITH you. They're willing to spew blatant lies to confuse voters and scare citizens in order to stop reform. Their advocacy groups have been exposed to ties and direct links to the insurance, pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. They rile up the elderly and low information voters into a frenzy to make it appear that people are against what you are proposing, when in fact these angry people are working against their own self interest.

I read that you stated that you are willing to risk the possibility of being a one term president in order to pass real reform. I hope you stand by these words. I don't think that will occur if you pass reform that will correct our broken system, but if it does the worse case scenario isn't that bad. You would have been elected President and lived up to your promise of enacting change. You will be revered by those who trusted you with this high office-the people. You are young and you would be able to spend more time with your beautiful family. Even Bill Clinton doesn't think this will occur:

Clinton Urges Progressive Push On Health Care

"Of course you don't. I'm telling you no matter how low they drive support for this with misinformation, the minute the president signs a health care reform bill his approval will go up. Secondly, within a year, when all those bad things they say will happen don't happen, and all the good things happen, approval will explode."

This is the time for real HEALTH CARE REFORM WITH A PUBLIC OPTION, regardless whether big business likes it. Think back to your mother's situation, as well as all the stories you heard during your travels and support a plan that will bring REAL change. This is a chance for you-seize the moment. Despite the comments in the media, I continue to hold hope after hearing comments like you made during a conference call with bloggers:

President Obama wanted to tell us directly what's going on..
He wants the bill to be strong with an excellent public option.
The status quo is unacceptable for Americans as premiums are skyrocketing....
Doing nothing is defending the indefensible

and lastly, here are some inspirational words that I like to share with others I communicate with:

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

-Barack Obama

WE NEED A PUBLIC OPTION!

1. Now that he has his "historic" electoral victory, nothing else matters. Except placating the reich
wingers in both parties.

His "mark" has already been made.
