The message to send to the white house and progressives
Re: public option (I think it's too late to reach the blue dogs)

I've learned from watching juries work--- it's the simple things they see and that the professionals often overlook that determine outcomes.

It's very simple. Without a true public option, there is no bill. If there is no bill, and there will be the perception that with this great "perceived" majority and the president could not deliver.

Outcome: president/Dems are weak/have no courage/afraid to do what's right = loses in 2010 and castrated presidency in connection with everything else, no matter what other successes he has.

Hence, do what it takes. Realize there is no bipartisnship and just ram in through in parliamentary fashion. Do not take foot of opponents throat. They sure as hell wouldn't. Or else......

That's the theme. The tone should be consistent as well. No asking, or supplicating. Rather DEMAND........ WE need to stay on message.

1. Good points. A public option should be where we take a stand, not a starting point.
Why they don't just polish up Medicare and extend it on a sliding scale open to everyone....I have no idea, except for the corporate pressure and libertarian opposition, of course. At some point they have to tuck their chins in and run for the goal. And the insurance companies can adapt.

Another point is if effective reform doesn't get off the ground the GOP will then turn their attention to privatizing Medicare and Social Security.

2. Can I get an AMEN?
I tried to to say this yesterday but in a longer, rambling, convoluted and less clear way...

Thanks for the clarity!!!
