More of the obvious, re Rightwing Armed Thugs.
Edited on Tue Aug-18-09 02:18 PM by endarkenment
One incident is a nutjob.

Multiple incidents across the country are either a viral infestation of copycat nut-jobbery or an organized conspiracy.

The teabaggers were playing with a 'million gun march' idea a few months ago. They have obviously been discussing how to work their love of guns into their radical right wing politics. And now, we have teabagger right wing radical extremists showing up all across the nation at public protests armed and dangerous.

No coincidence. Not a viral infestation of copycat nut-jobbery. This is an organized effort at political intimidation by armed thugs.

Rightwing Armed Thugs. The RATS among us.

2. Or, people who are excited and proud that they are NOT being
arrested for silly things like the wrong T shirt slogan, or being shuffled off to a fenced 'free speech zone.'

They may be just enjoying the "change you can believe in" and expressing this enjoyment.

In reality, I think they want to be arrested and hassled, to become martyrs for their paranoid, fucked up delusional world view where they see themselves as high-minded patriots instead of the low-brow, bottom-feeding thugs they often are.

Granted, I recognize I am painting with a broadbrush - I know a lot of gun people who are good decent folks, but I also know that most of them (including the good ones) get their info from bad sources, and are scared and convinced they are doing the right thing.

Look at the polls for healthcare, how the majority went from being in support to that being questionable (depending on which polls you look at). No shit. Isn't that the whole point of the teabag disinformation campaigns, to scare people into supporting the corporate masters by telling them we're going to kill grandma, give rubbers to little Johnny, and abortion to little Suzy, and all on their dime? That Obama is a Socialist out to destruoy America (which is so fucking ironically hilarious and nonsensical, I don't get how people fall for that shit)?

These people are not celebrating anything but their masters' jackbooted fear policies. Shit, most of them probably cheered Bush not allowing dissent or protest.

How is - for the most part - legally bringing your weapon with you to an event being a nut job? I'm no fan of guns of any kind, but, they are excersizing their right. Sorry, call me old-school, but I believing in expressing rights. I may not agree with some of their opinions, but still...

6. So you think there is no message here?
No attempt at intimidation?

No deliberate political theater?

All that is going on is an expression of rights?

Do you routinely walk around openly armed?

If not why not?

If you do, why?

Yes there is a 2nd amendment right. Yes in many states open carry is legal. That is completely beside the point. People do not routinely walk around openly armed. They do not do this because it is intimidating and threatening to everyone around them. It is uncivil behavior in most situations. It is generally unacceptable behavior. At a political protest it is a deliberate act of political theater, it is sending a message of fear and intimidation.

But you know all this, don't you.

11. My point/emphasis
is on the people who are not intending to make a point. Whether or not that "Chris" was planted or not (can someone provide a link to the interview and subsequent revelations), my point still stands...they're not breaking any laws and they have the right to bear arms.

I consider myself old school because I ultimately am in favor of maximizing and maintaining liberties, not restricting them. To me, socially, this would be restricting them.

8. What right are they "excersizing"?
They're not part of a militia. They're clearly not well-regulated. What security is being provided by these free-lance yahoos? Or does the meaning of the Second Amendment only go as far as what pleases latter day revisionists?
