All the people so vehemently protesting the public option... what are they protesting against? No one would be forcing anything on anyone, that's why it's called an OPTION.

Is it just the fear that it will cost too much? Inept government doctors will accidentally give people sex changes? Communism?

What the hell is it that they hate so much about it?

1. The fear
Is that it will eventually force private insurers out of business, which will result in a de facto single payer system.

9. More of a fear of a Democrat - a black Democrat who has a good idea
Alongside the racism, people bought into Reagan's thing about how bad government is, and damn, we can't help those who aren't worthy! They're too blind to realize Obama's plan will help each and every one of those protesters and their families/friends.

I think the lighting match is racism, but the fire is about a lot of dissatisfaction that they either can't admit, or are too riled up to understand that most of the anger is because the Corporate/NeoCon Beltway has screwed all of us over one too many times.

If they want to discuss governmental intrusion, let's talk warrantless wiretaps as a starter.

2. Its the fear that a government program will show how inept public co.'s really are
They're afraid that the cost savings would see a broad migration away from the for profit insurers.

A black eye on the free market would result.

3. No one is protesting the public option really.
It's the insurance companies who have bought and paid for the people who are supposed to be representing us in washington. No body really cares what a bunch of loonie teabaggers are doing. It's just a cover so that the American people can get scw@wed. Someone has finally come up with enough money.

7. Well for the TeaBirthers . . .
. . . it means "I'll be payin' MY taxes to give health cov'rge to these goddamn (insert racial slur here)'s nine CRACK BABIES!!!" Or their ever popular Red Menace canard fresh from the Reagan 80s :eyes:

For the insurers, it means the end of screwing poor people. Also, the end of their profiteering and the beginning of them getting a better business model and being more patient friendly and not having someone lose their life savings . . . and then their livelihood . . . and then their lives . . . over a cancer diagnosis. It means the end of "pre-existing conditions".

And that's why their minions are stirrin' up the TeaBirthers and Repuke congresspeople.

Loathsome shits, all of them.

8. The fear is that someone will get something they didn't "earn."
That's what it all boils down to. We are the most indoctrinated country in the world, save North Korea.
