Joe Klein on the Ed show lying his pants off.
"Insurance Exchanges instead of a Public Option" Joe thinks it's much better!

So Co-Op are bad and "Exchanges" are good.

Come out President Obama...stop hiding like George W. Bush.

If you are going to scr@w us then man up. We know it's not the republicans. You are the one with the power so come out and tell us why we have to give up on the Public Option.

Is there really anyone stupid enough to go for the Exchange fairytale?

1. There were always going to be exchanges, large pool payers, one a non-profit insurance.
Matters how non-profit designed, though.

2. It's not a fairy tale, it was introduced in the House plan. Just maybe
you should do some research to educate yourself before going off half-cocked.

Health reform bill creates a health insurance exchange

Updated: Thursday, July 16th, 2009 | By Angie Drobnic Holan

After months of talking about health care reform, the U.S. House of Representatives introduced major legislation to overhaul the nation's health care system. House Democrats unveiled the 1,000-plus-page bill, called America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009, on July 14, and it includes most of President Barack Obama's key proposals on health reform.

One of Obama's promises was to create a national health insurance exchange. He envisioned people being able to one-stop shop for health insurance, with benefits and coverage spelled out in clear, standardized language.

The House bill creates the National Insurance Exchange under a Health Choices Administration, with a commissioner to run it named by the president. The Health Choices commissioner "establishes a process through which to obtain bids, negotiate and enter into contracts with qualified plans, and ensure that the different levels of benefits are offered with appropriate oversight and enforcement," according to a summary of the legislation from the House Ways and Means Committee.

We should be clear that there's a long way to go — maybe months — before the bill creating the exchange becomes law. It has to pass the House and get through the Senate, where many changes could be made.

Nevertheless, the bill marks significant, measurable progress on Obama's promise
, and we rate it In the Works.

5. It seems pretty usless without a government option,
you can force insurance companies to cover people with pre-existing conditions but they set the rates. Without a public option then the "Exchange" is like a consumers guide to for profit healthcare.

But the Insurance companies seem to like the idea so you must be right. I can't wait for a government program that tells me which corporate monster will give me the best deal.

4. Has Joe ever looked around his doctor's office NOW to see how many
people it takes to deal with a limited number of insurance companies? How many more will they have to hire to deal with even MORE different companies? What if the company is located in another state? Who will keep them honest?

JEEBUS. I don't want more CRAPPY choices that are grossly overpriced to the point of being unaffordable for way too many Americans. I don't want to subsidize the friggin' insurance companies' profits in the process of helping the uninsured.
