Are you willing to walk the walk?
And attend a rally in DC in support of Obama's Health Care bill? He needs us more than ever now.

2. A mass rally in DC would certainly send a message to the repubs.
Edited on Wed Aug-19-09 08:54 PM by WillieW
Just like the civil right demonstration on the Washington Mall. We have to be seen and heard en mass.

14. go ahead and try. that is the greyhound fare, without student discount
and the southwest is using their http://www.southwest.com/cgi-bin/lowFareFinderEntry
which shows you all the fares for a time period. that was the cheapest for the 5-6 days around that weekend.
i do this all the time

11. hmmm I could probably handle that. But I'd also have to pay for a hotel...
Which would get pretty pricey. I'm a fairly restricted budget right now. I've spent a ton of money on school supplies.

speaking as someone who has taken a bus cross country.. don't do it that way
it takes days and you need to stop at crappy places to buy shit for food. No place to shower etc...

A train is better but still is kinda tough if it more than a day or so travel time.

Air fares are pretty low right now, if you factor in the time you spend traveling and needing to eat and bathe etc. it is very competative to fly and much much easier.

it looks like you can fly round trip for about 180

but for a pig in a poke? Not so much interested in spending thousands to cheer for something I do not really think is good reform.
Do you think that many people are excited about the imaginary bill you speak of? I don't. And what is "Obama's Health Care Bill"? Send me a link to a copy, ok?

We could solicit local hotels to offer rooms. This could all be worked out. We could ask Matthews, Rachel and Olberman for help.

30. hell, my friends and i did it this decade, what are you talking about!
there were over 400k (police on route said there were maybe 600k) in dc in sept 2005. and there were lots more marches and protests that people just got to. that's why i know about the hostels, look them up. and code pink always helps with their knowledge of housing possibilities. dave swanson knows too.

44. The logistics involved would take longer than that.
Obtain permit from the park police and district police to assemble, hotels, transportation food and on and on. Organize group leaders and speakers and so on. It's a lot of work. So many thousands of people attended the inauguration without thinking twice.

No.

I have, and will continue to, as I can, attend rallies for single-payer health care. That's what I'm willing to "walk."

Not in DC, since I can't afford the gas to drive to the next rally, 3 hours away, let alone travel 2700 miles to DC.

Why bang my head on the wall? I am disappointed that is for sure, realizing that there are very few here who are willing to do this. So, most talk the talk but refuse to walk the walk. Bummer.
