Its A Baby Anna at 6:14 PST

The new Grandma just called........

Very underweight at 4 pounds dont know what happened but the Dr's wanted her out today because MOM was running high blood pressure and protein. Trust me Grandma and I have a lot of concerns on our hearts tonight....also I am out of town training for a new job and need to stay until the first phase is done.

Hope to make it out west to meet her over the weekend......It's bedtime for this first time Grandpa...that sounds so strange.

Night nite

9. Congratulations, grandpa and grandma. Try not to worry --
although I know that sounds impossible. It's a good thing that the docs delivered her as soon as trouble loomed. You will most likely have a healthy, happy baby girl.

13. Happy, Happy Birthday, Miss Anna........
You're HERE!

Your Grandpa is madly happy that you've arrived, and everyone's kind of concerned about you because you're a bit early and they think you're tiny.

But I bet you've got a great big heart, and I am predicting that you are not only going to be here for a long, long time, but you're going to do great things while you're here.

Welcome home, Miss Anna..............

14. Awww, Anna is a beautiful name. My younger daughter had to be taken early as well
and she was a bit underweight. She is very healthy now at 4 years old. Hang in there.

and 4 lbs is big for us. She likely was having some trouble growing because of her mama's pregnancy induced hypertension but that won't effect her brain and she'll likely catch up fast. Those kids are usually what we term, scrappy. They may be scrawny but they are strong little boogers.

And they look like little wizened gnomes. I personally think they're cuter than their roly poly fellow newborns.

ps Congrats grandpa!

22. All will be well
There have been amazing strides in treating underweight babies in the last 20-30 years. Hell, when my little one was born, 4 pounds was the weight where they determined that the child was big enough to send home.

Good thoughts. Congratulations on your new Grandbaby!

24. Congratulations!!!!
Both of my girls were born low birthweight (3 lbs 15 ozs and 4 lbs 9ozs) and they are now very healthy and happy 2 and 1 year olds (respectively).

May your concerns be eased and may beautiful Anna continue to grow and be healthy.

:woohoo:

You'll be hearing lots of stories about underweight babies... let me add one--my now 6'2'' husband, born at a time when 5 pounds was really tiny. I know it's scary but Anna will be absolutely fine, and she will be safer out, with the kind of neonatal care that's available now, than in, with her mom not being well. This is best for both.

Hugs to ALL of you!!
