Americans Outraged After Suddenly Realizing Interstate Highways Are Government-Run
SATIRE

As the debate continues to rage on over whether or not the U.S. should include a public, government-funded plan in its healthcare reform, many citizens abruptly noticed that the federal government funds and regulates all Interstate Highways in the nation, and has done so for over 50 years.

Now, many are up in arms over the largest public works project in history, which has somehow gone unnoticed since the mid-20th century.

"I can't believe I didn't think of this before," said conservative analyst Paul Dobson, slapping his forehead in disbelief. "We were all so focused on the idea of the government ruining healthcare forever that we forgot how President Eisenhower -- who was obviously tricked by President Barack Hussein Obama -- already ruined our highways by building and then socializing them in the 1950s."

Dobson further clarified that Obama is not a U.S. citizen, but rather a time-traveling fiend who was born in the strange, alien fields of Mars.

1. Mars has two very small moons Phobos and Deimos
Both satellites were discovered in 1877 by Asaph Hall, and are named after the characters Phobos (panic/fear) and Deimos (terror/dread) who, in Greek mythology, accompanied their father Ares, god of war, into battle. Ares was known as Mars to the Romans.

Mars is those that use war and conflict, they live with terror and fear.

Mars doctrine is much more along the lines of Republican doctrine. That is also why many people on that side of the argument are called martians.

(Note that is not a comment about soldiers, what and why a military goes to war would more explain what side they would be on. The idea is not that anyone in a war likes war, but that some people do like war and conflict, and the ways of fear and dread.)

As far as work, what work do I do? And why would it be for me to do it?

And in my view of metaphors, I do not think President Obama is martian either.

3. Why...
That's awful! We need to privatize those Interstate highways! And Soon! just think of all the profit some poor corporation is missing out on! And I hear the military is government run too! Why that needs a good company like Blackwater to take over it and run it properly as only private interests can do!:hide:

6. The Feds paid for 90% of the construction, the state 10%
Built to Federal standards, they are the property of the state that the highway runs throught. Once complete, it is entirely the states responsibility to operate, maintain and police. They are not Federal property.
