Health care costs math question ....... help please??????
Now from what I have read the United States spends roughly 18 % of our GDP on health care costs.

The CIA lists the USA's GDP @ 14,330,000 (in millions of U.S. Dollars)

question # 1 what is that figure?

In the U.K. they spend about 8 % of their GDP on health care ..... a difference of 10 %

question # 2 what is that figure?

now for the sake of argument say 1/2 of that is profit

question # 3 what is that figure?

Now w/ that much money being made is there any doubt on why "they" are fighting health care reform?

1. You're a tad off. Here's the answer to #1.
National health spending is expected to reach $2.5 trillion in 2009, accounting for 17.6 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). By 2018, national health care expenditures are expected to reach $4.4 trillion—more than double 2007 spending.1

#2. Of the c.15% of GDP the US spends on healthcare annually (that’s about $2.2 trillion*), around 50% is spent by the government (around $1.1 trillion). By contrast, the UK spends around 8% of its GDP on healthcare, with the Department of Health’s budget for the NHS (England**) in 2008/9 around £94 billion (about $155 billion).

2. Thanx
So the 17.6% of the US GDP = $2.522 Trillion as what is being spent now.

So how would I figure how much of that is profit for the Health insurance industry?
