Think about this for a sec: Obama as one-term president
The village idiot was appointed president, but he 'won' a second term. A total of EIGHT years. History will always remember him as a two-term president. He never 'lost' a presidential election.

If Obama fucks this up and acts like a GOP-loving coward, the people on "the left of the left" - i.e. your average registered Democrats - will not forgive and forget. He'll be lucky to see a half-full stadium.

1. I don't believe he will be a one-term president
first, Clinton didn't get anything on health care and won re-election. Obama is going to get some major health care reform with or without the public option (hopefully with). Secondly, presidential elections are going to be decided on the economy. The economy decided it for Clinton in '96 and it will decide it one way or another for Obama in '12. If the economy is better than what he inherited and humming and unemployment is falling by November of 2012 (a reasonable conclusion) Obama should win.

2. What makes you think Obama might "fuck this up"?
IMO by the end of his second term people will be wondering why he can't have a third.

22. If you listen to the Commentary on the News, and watch the polls
it is not hard to see why people would be upset.

It is not all Obama's fault. The Senate has been no help.
Make party look impotent and innept.

Since the Senate stay out of sight and only Obama is there
to take the blows, any mistakes are laid at his feet.

With all the anger on the right and not that much push back
from the Left, this train can come off the tracks real fast.

4. So maybe we should make sure progressives don't guarantee another 8 years of a "W"
Edited on Thu Aug-20-09 11:55 AM by stray cat
In 2000 the progressives elected W over Gore due to a lack of enthusiasm. I hope but doubt that progressives are as smart as the right but I doubt it.

If progressives don't vote for the dem - they deserve republican rule and deserve anything that happens.

15. And who the fucks fault is that?
If the fucking blue dogs and DLC 'Dems' that keep pissing on the progressives would give the progressives a REASON to vote for the Democrats, I promise the progressives WOULD vote for the Democrats.

Like we did when we put Obama if office.

Fucking blue dogs need to stop taking progressives for granted.

The fact we're calling him President Obama is pretty improbable.

So why should I doubt we'll be calling him our president in 2014?

If the average voter believes that Obama has fucked up, rightfully or wrongfully, they will vote him out.

Ideology runs very low on voter concerns.

41. Um...On What Planet Do You Spend Most Of Your Time?
Nothing matters to Obama more than being President. He's bending over backwards, frontwards and sideways to kiss as much ass as he possibly can so everyone will keep thinking he's a great guy...all so he can be President again in 2012. Which is precisely why he's such a crappy President.

In frankness, I think that most thinking Democrats aren't going to leave Obama in the lurch in 2012, a pity you don't seem to be one of them.

BTW. The GOP Committee to elect a sociopath President in 2012 thanks you in advance for your kind support. "After all, it's malcontents like you that make our victories possible."

Obama will be a one term President.

If a bill is not passed, Obama will lose the House, but he won't be a one term President.

Edited on Fri Aug-21-09 12:41 AM by LaPera
get elected president...they have to steal it.

And that goes for 2012 as well.

Obama is a democrat and he'll win in 2012 - The republicans will have to find a way to steal it again in 2012 if they expect republicans to have the presidency in 2012.

(But, if Obama doesn't get and sign a health care bill with a strong public option...it will indeed make it a lot tougher for the democrats, one big reason, and there are so many reasons, why the republicans are doing all they can to stop health care reform).
