Things are about to get ugly on my Facebook page, re: Ridge, Bush and (believe it or not) Nixon

This morning, I posted a link to the Tom Ridge story on thinkprogress. I got this response, from somebody who is my complete political opposite:

""was pushed to raise the security alert on the eve of President Bush’s re-election, something HE SAW as politically motivated and worth resigning over."

He saw. His perception. And it's from ThinkProgress. Please, Brian."


Another friend responded thusly (completely unrelated to the above post):

"Knowing that administration, it wouldn't suprise me. Boy, they must've really studied all of the Nixon administration's shenanigans leading up to the Watergate scandal to be able to pull the same crap without the whole getting caught part of it."


The first guy responded:

""Knowing that administration...." Yes, do tell."


The second came back with this (not at all comprehensive) list:

"Oh, where do I begin:

- How 'bout getting elected when the Republican-controlled Supreme Court halted any chance of any recount of votes in Florida?
- How 'bout deciding on going to war in Iraq without approval from Congress; something ANY President needs before declaring war?
- How 'bout the fact that, despite the fact Kerry and Howard Dean decided not to challenge it, the Diebold company, the ones who manufactured the polling machines used in the 2004 election, were known as a major contributor to the Bush campaign, thus were in a position to be suspect in the voting irregularities in that election?
- How 'bout the Vice-President's team leaking the name of a CIA informant just because her husband had the audacity to speak out against the adminitration's policies?
Wouldn't suprise me if political reasons were the motivation for the raising of the security alert. It would be the first real reason presented for all those security alerts they announced publicly."


I'm now awaiting a response from Guy #1. This always seems to happen on my Facebook page...I post something left-leaning, and then just step back and enjoy the argument. :)

Apparently Valerie Plame wasn't an informant or a covert op. Who knew?
