Let me make one thing perfectly clear about today's Ridge allegation.
Edited on Thu Aug-20-09 04:23 PM by WCGreen
If a democrat had done such a thing as Ridge was claiming the Bush administration did, I would be the first one calling for an investigation.

Let's see how many republicans, especially those who claim they are of higher moral fiber than democrats, come out and condemn this type of behavior.

There is no excuse to put this country's moral standing at stake for purely political reasons.

It use to be that foreign policy was off limits during the run up to federal elections.

Well, except for Republicans like Reagan, Kissinger and now Bush.

And if this doesn't prove that the GOP is all about power while giving scant attention to actually doing something for the people in this country, nothing will.

1. He should have said something then.
But if he had they would have had to re-calibrate the vote(steal)ing machines all over the country.

3. Yes, this is more evidence of stolen elections
It's about subverting the democratic process when an incumbent uses false warnings of terror attacks to try to influence an election. It's just about as disgusting as it gets.

12. That's the way I see it, too.
Isn't it nice to have a President that doesn't make you want to retch?

2. Better not hold our breath waiting for the Republican outrage
about the partisan political use of the terror alerts.

They'd be more likely to find ways to come out and condemn Ridge for talking out of school.

10. I was just laughing as I tried to think of a Republican with the integrity to confirm this
But maybe Cheney's memoirs will tell us it was true. Powell? Condi?

Don't think so-- Powell would claim it was after his time. And Condi has obfuscation on speed dial.

"There is no excuse to put this country's moral standing at stake for purely political reasons."

I thought that was the definition of the Bush Presidency! It was all a campaign to further the agenda and to cement Bush's place in history!

13. It just codifies
what we all knew all along.

That this fucker waits and then reveals it in a book - a fucking BOOK! - is nothing but further proof of the arrogance of the GOPigs. They can do and say whatever they want, and nothing will ever happen to them.

This will be Ridge's book tour, right? We gonna have to watch that smarmy fucker all over, talking about how it wrenched his conscience to do something he knew to be patently untrue, dishonest, politically opportunistic, and possibly causing anxiety and fear in citizens. But, then he said, "Aw, fuck 'em, " and went ahead and did it anyway.

Miserable prick should be hanging his head in shame, but instead, he's gonna try to sell books.

Maybe his pal Colin Powell will join him on the We Anguished, But We Went Along Anyway farewell tour.

Let's hope this isn't the last we see of this sleazy prick. Let's see him when his indictment is returned.

Will that ever happen?

A member of a previous administration just admitted - in print - that he fabricated information and scared the public so as to give the existing administration a leg up in an election.

What more does the Justice Department need?

14. Good luck on waiting for a Republican to display any sort of character
Most of them believe that the ends do justify the means. They have no sense of character, no sense of fairness, no sense of justice, and no sense of morality. Most people learned these things when they were 5 years old, but a great number of Republicans never did and never will.

19. If they skated on torture, which up until now it seems they have, abusing a color coded indicator
to manipulate public impression and to steal an election will be akin to throwing sand at the play ground.

I really hope Holder has the stomach to step up and hold some of these fuckers accountable.
