I gives high marks to Obama for going on the Smirkonish program
I think it was a good call. Smirkonish got his metaphorical ass handed to him for endorsing Obama. At first. Then it was seen as the right thing to do.

Anyway, he's a center right guy and that puts Obama with the audience he needs to address.

Smart move.

1. I just saw him on Hardball -- seems like a reasonable guy. I didn't hear
the interview, nor was I aware of who he is. But you're right -- if that's his audience, that's exactly who needs to hear Obama's explanation.

3. He claims to be an independent. His views are right, but not hard right.
I'd shorthand him as a Rockefeller Republican.

Think Chris Shays.

11. you don't have to be Hitler to be a Fascist
you have to espouse Fascism. and we certainly have that strain in American politics, where corporations have the rights of individuals before the law.

6. K&R, because that's how we ride -
but this is exactly what Obama should be doing.

THIS is bi-partisanship, not the bullshit that's failing in Congress.

Speak to their listeners, get the hosts to love you, Mr. President, and you'll reach millions who otherwise would not hear you........

9. Smirk
I've seen him from his appearances on "HardBall" and his defense and encouragement of torture is really something to behold. He may have endorsed Obama but I find him to be very callous when it comes to harming other human beings. His reasoning was always if they are not Americans he really sees no problem with torturing and he was always talking about the "Ticking Time Bomb scenario" as if it really worked. Never been a case of it being proven only asserted by defenders of torture who use that argument when they get called out for endorsing barbarianism. I don't think he's a good guy @ all.

12. missing the point
I respectfully disagree. Yes he endorsed Obama and occasionally makes a reasoned presentation but his views are quite abhorrent when it comes to stuff like torture. Which is a huge red flag for most human beings. What is the point of the thread that I've missed??? Oh let me guess by having the President on his show he provides a way to make Obama's health plan- which by the way he has not signed on to any particular one - more palatable to his working class Joe/Jane audience. I believe that's a suckers bet but after all I'm not smart enough to let go of all the crazy punditry Mr. Smearconish has committed over the years. Thanks for the feedback though.

13. The thread was about Obama going on a show hosted by a right wing talker
It was not about the specific right wing talker.

But you may prattle on if you wish.

14. not a specfic right winger
Oh I totally get it now!!!! Disapproving of torture is prattling. OK. If Obama wants to make a better case I think he should be going to some of the RM's like the one they had in California and using that great big ole bully pulpit to let America see(I think millions would watch sans the BS) how this health care issue is real and not a zero sum game of "us vs. them" I don't think Obama has anything to prove to any Right wing talker, name an honest non-demagogic one ? I really can't think of any. Have a wonderful night and thanks for the clarification.

17. Nope, you still didn't get it.
The thread was supposed to be about the President, not Smerconish.

Wise move on the President's part in participating in a venue where he can reach out to some who may not be receptive to the message elsewhere. That is all.
