MediCare insurance agent: a smallish rant.

Miz t. turns 65 in October.
Our mail has been FLOODED with 'Medigap' insurance offers.
So called 'Medigap' insurance is what you buy to cover the things not covered by government MediCare A and B plans.
It's a lucrative business.

A couple of months ago we got a call from a young woman who said she was an insurance agent and she would come to our house and explain the various options available to Miz t.
Sure, come on.
We set an appointment time.
She was 20 minutes late.

OK, no biggie, although ours is a generation that lays great store in being on time for appointments.
As they say, 'shit happens'.

She looked to be about 18 years old to me.

She was very knowledgeable and said that as an independent agent she could sell Miz t. just about any policy from any insurer.
Great.
Miz t. wanted to mull all the info over and said she'd call her back.

Miz t. decided on the plan she wanted and the insurance company she wanted. Called the young woman to come out and write the policy. In the meantime, I decided I wanted to change insurers (Dumping United Healthcare because of their lobbying against Obama's plan) and so the woman gets to write two policies.

We set the appointment for 10:00 AM.
She called at 10:30.
Got held up someplace and now had to go do yadda yadda yadda.
OK, no prob.
When can she be here?
Is 4:00 PM OK?
Sure.

It's now 6:00 PM.
No show.
No call.

Guess who will not get our business?

to wait around all day is just bad business. I hope you make sure she knows WHY she isn't getting your business.

I believe the state chapters offer some kind of Medi-gap insurance through their organizations.
