Insurance companies are the problem
There actually is one area of medical care where costs are falling: cosmetic surgery. It's not that plastic surgeons make less money than other types of doctors. In the US, plastic surgeons average about 350k a year while an Anesthesiologist makes around 340k a year (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specialty_%28medicine%29#United_States). It's not that malpractice insurance costs less in cosmetic surgery either. Insurance rates for plastic surgery and cardiac surgery are very similar (http://www.physicianssearch.com/physician/malpract.html). So what is the difference?

Insurance companies aren't involved in cosmetic surgery.

Coincidence?

2. Wrong. It is the law that all corporations seek to make a profit. It's up to the public to determine
the restrictions on how far corporations can go to make their profits. Corporations are not moral entities and not responsible for their harm. It is the public's responsibility to determine the degree of regulation needed to keep the corporations from harming.

Don't blame the corporations. They are not human, they are not moral. Blame the public for their lack of regulation.

3. I think I agree
And I believe the public is waking up to the fact that insurance companies don't add much value to the equation. Their days are numbered.
