Rachel Maddow reaches a new level of AWESOME every night!
It needed to be said. B-)

Wasn't it cool the way she used basketball to explain the rules of the Senate and how the GOP keeps changing them? She always manages to explain things in a way that everyone can relate to. :-)

2. I can't believe the Rethugs are going for the 75-vote majority
I wonder how they came up with that idea...

5. The Rethugs only proclaim to love democracy when it fits their needs
I love how they want to give themselves power again even though they are in the minority. Hilarious.

11. LOL. If the minority had that much power all the time what would be the point of
elections? Plus, they are schizophrenic...I thought they wanted a "permanent majority" just a couple of years ago. They obviously cannot make up their damn minds.

But, unfortunately for the Republicans, it isn't them.

8. The GOP keeps changing them - and RM's main point - we keep allowing them to do it.
we CONCEDE the filibuster? Fuck that!

Make those miserable right wing assholes read phonebooks.

We've pandered enough to the right - PLEASE Pres. Obama, end the insanity!

9. The props annoy me, but her in-depth research and interviews are excellent.

Like with Republican Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, right now. Compared to the newsbunnies on Corporate Media, Rachel is one of the closest journalists we have to Ida Tarbell; she needs to lose the cutesy stuff. And "Kent" (or whatever the heck is name is) during the last five minutes or so...

14. I like the props.
They connect a "visual" to the point she's making and I think that tends to stick with people a bit more. Sort of like when Al Gore used the lift in "An Inconvenient Truth" - which the basketball hoop reminded me of. :-)

I totally agree - her interviews are excellent!

15. To me it seems like "dumbing down" and it's not something...
Rachel needs to do with her audience. Then again, who knows who is watching on The YouTubes. :-P

16. I see your point, but the way I look at it ...
Edited on Thu Aug-20-09 09:06 PM by BattyDem
WE may not need the props, but if you're like me, you try to get other people to watch Rachel. Those people may not be political junkies like we are, so a little "dumbing down" isn't such a bad thing. It's not that they're stupid and couldn't understand, but it just makes the information a little more accessible so they won't feel overwhelmed by all the facts being thrown at them. :-)

And you're absolutely right about The YouTubes. You never know who'll stumble across the clip. It could be someone who was searching for basketball! :P

Perhaps I'm not all that visual -- I tend to tune out most cable "news" because of the annoying graphics (not to mention the crappy content!). I've been watching the NewsHour more and more since it's just an anchor, a boring set, and maybe 1-2 being interviewed. (I just flashed back to an election night party and the howls of laughter at the CNN graphics...ah, what a great night!) :-)

Rachel and Keith have both barrels full of ammunition loaded day after day, thanks to the moronic lying Republicans.
