Boise Police arrest man for pulling gun, claiming to be cop

Story Created: Aug 20, 2009 at 3:57 PM MDT

Story Updated: Aug 20, 2009 at 6:50 PM MDT

<snip>Paul Brookhouse has been charged with Impersonating a Police Officer, a felony. snip

Boise Police had responded to a call of a man with a gun near the Boise Rescue Mission. When they arrived, they found two men brandishing handguns.

Witnesses told police that the theft suspect, later identified as 46-year-old John Dickey had stolen property from the Rescue Mission and tried to run.

The theft victim chased after the suspect, and a third man now identified as 52-year-old Paul Brookhouse joined the chase as well.

Police say Brookhouse pulled a handgun and ordered the theft suspect to stop. He then claimed to be a Boise Police Officer.

At this point, another man approached and pointed a handgun at Brookhouse to get him to drop his weapon. snip

Police say both Brookehouse and the other gunman have concealed weapons permits. snip

He was taken into custody shortly after midnight.

The reason this fascination with guns everywhere is not good:

When you have a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

15. I'm with you. It's not the guns that bug me. it's the unhealthy fixation/facination that
bugs me.

11. Any group has idiots in it.
On the whole, people with concealed carry permits actually have a lower rate of committing violent crime than do the police.

9. A CCW permit isn't a permit to pretend to be Dirty Harry
Mr. Brookehouse ought to lose his permit, his gun and not be allowed to posses firearms of any kind for a long time.
