"You're wrong."

And that pissed him off.

I am LOVING this.

She's looking like the total asshole that she is.

He cut her off with her bullshit anecdote.

I just hope he doesn't back off..................

12. 432 says nothing like what she is claiming!
She should have just taken in a laptop and done a search. It actually starts on 431:

(3) PHYSICIAN’S QUALITY REPORTING INITIATIVE.—
(A) IN GENERAL.—For purposes of reporting data on quality measures for covered professional services furnished during 2011 and any subsequent year, to the extent that measures are available, the Secretary shall include quality measures on end of life care and advanced care planning that have been adopted or endorsed by a consensus-based organization, if appropriate. Such measures shall measure both the creation of and adherence to orders for life
sustaining treatment.

All it is asking is for doctors to report when they do end of life counseling and whether the people stuck to their original decisions or changed their minds.

16. No kidding -
he did more in that interview - or whatever it was - to explain the "end of life" provision than Obama's done so far, than anyone's done so far.

Jon put it in human terms, citing his grandparents, and also bringing up the possibility of leaving the "I want everything possible to be done to keep me alive" option open.

That was just great. Now I want to see the whole interview at the Comedy Central site: http://www.thedailyshow.com/

That whole thing has to be a work of art if they were willing just to truncate it on the show and make that announcement. I've never seen Stewart do that before, but his crack about hot chocolate and someone to talk you down was beautiful.

That was really something. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing........................

I came away from that interview with a sense of fear. Fear that our opponents are well funded and dishonest and energetic. And that Jon Stewart is better than I ever thought he would be.

At this point in time I see The Daily Show as one of the keenest band of journalists around. They must be researching day and night. I don't know how they do it.

I'm frightened most by those who continue to lie even after being exposed. I believe it gives them an air of legitimacy their followers can hang on to. We're really living in the Twilight Zone. We're at continuous war with a gang of crooks called the Republican party.

And I want to say that it's not even the Republican party. They are just the working end of big corporations. The state of affairs in America today is the people versus the big corporations. That's what we saw tonight.

43. Agreed - it's The Big Lie, writ large -
they just keep going, and, yes, "relentless" is the exact right word. She never stopped, never considered another perspective, not for a moment.

She kept saying "You're wrong," which, really, would have had me slapping the crap out of her on national TV. I commend Stewart for channeling his anger into taking her apart.

But, you're right. They operate as if their words are the only ones being spoken, and if they just keep saying them often enough, loud enough, they will prevail.

The fucked-up part is that they're right.

The White House should study that entire interview when it goes up on the Daily Show website, and then get out there and start taking these lying scum apart the way Stewart eviscerated that horrible woman......................

45. She made these statements during the TDS
"I would like to see the US spend more on on health, not less"

"I want to make sure patients get the health care they need"

"I support health insurance for anyone who can afford it"

I guess in her last statement there is a "small" grain of truth-(afford it)

70. She resigned from the Cantel Board today.
Claims she didn't want the appearance of a conflict of interest. Ya.... right. More likely IMO that Cantel didn't want anyone snooping around them because of her connection.

Upon listening to the TSD rebroadcast today I realized that she said "can't afford" rather than can afford. Still it doesn't change the fact that she's a hypocrite for claiming that she supports health care for all, while taking it apart.

And I'm not in Mendocino, though I visited 6 years back. Liked it so much I adopted the name. Wonderful place, I envy you.

51. As much as I dislike William Kristol, McCaughey could have learned from him.
Kristol plays to Stewart's strengths (quit wit, intelligence, preparedness) rather than trying to find a weakness. He also laughs when the audience boos him or cheers Stewart. As a result, Kristol always makes a point or two.

McCaughey tried to find a weakness in Stewart ("Did you only read Section 1233?"), butted heads with him, inferred he was ignorant, waved pages to the audience as "proof Jon is wrong", and talked directly to the camera.

She seriously needs an infusion of humor -- joke enema?

I think one point she was trying to make was that doctors would be rated on whether or not patients stuck to their decisions made in counseling. A real small point at that. I think doctors should be paid for this advice, but not be judged by whether the patient stuck too it or not. So to this extent I agree with her. How the Hell anyone could get death panels from this is beyond me. I have made my own "to pull the plug or not to pull the plug" decisions myself and communicated them to family and friends. It would have been great to mull this decision over with an MD. However I certainly would not want him to be rated poorly if I changed my mind in the future. I don't see anywhere where I would be forced to stick to any decision made before the event, only that the doctor would be judged, and thereby pressured to in turn pressure me...

I tried really hard to understand where this woman was coming from. Her comments had a huge effect on the debate, and right or wrong it is important to understand how she came to this opinion, on the remote chance she could actually be right (really really remote)

By the way she resigned from her job
