HEH! - Ex-Wives and Others Eagerly Await the UBS Tax-Cheater List
It's not just the U.S. government that wants to get its hands on the list of Americans who hold secretive Swiss bank accounts. Ex-wives, creditors and former business partners are also salivating over the idea that a settlement between the U.S., the Swiss government and a Swiss bank may lead to the public disclosure of as many as 4,450 U.S. individuals that used the foreign bank accounts to hide money. Prominent New York City divorce lawyer Raoul Lionel Felder says he is already getting calls from clients who want to know what they can do to get their portion of the money they always suspected their ex–loved one had tucked away overseas.

"You see allegations of Swiss bank accounts in divorce proceedings all the time," says Felder, whose clients have included Rudy Giuliani, Robin Givens and the former Mrs. Martin Scorsese. "A lot of divorces are going to get opened up."

3. Thing is, how easily would it be for someone to clear out their Swiss account
and put the money elsewhere, say in a Cayman Island bank?

9. The Swiss bank would still have the account records if they did.

4. Well this is certainly different than the 50,000 names they originally wanted

And that's good.

I am an account holder and I'm not on that list. Can anyone guess why? Probably not - also, as a German dual national with American citizenship, the original discovery request asked for the names of all individuals who had made a deposit to my account or received a wire from my account or withdrawn from my account, and their account information and activity, which incidentally includes my life partner who is an American, former Navy Lt. Cdr., and his accounts at the Navy Federal Credit Union and BoFA.

That folks, is a witch hunt. I pay my taxes, in both countries. I don't break the law, except regarding my unlawful marriage. I should not be treated like a criminal, and apparently that's exactly what UBS concluded too for the other 45,000 people who were not handed over.

Ridiculous. The real money is in every babysitter and waiter that under declares their taxes - billions of dollars more lost from Americans in America, and yet merely holding a Swiss account is reason enough to be declared a villain because of all the taxes that aren't being collected. Shameful and ridiculous - some people expect that there should be two sets of laws about tax evasion, but only prosecute if you think they're rich. Sounds like the crime is to not be a babysitter or a hairdresser or a waiter.
