"Harold Ford, Jr. has been disgraceful in his lack of support. I endured death threats to endorse him...It's unfortunate that he has no courage."... (*Side point, Harold Ford, Jr refused to complain about the racist ad directed at him. Isn't that ironic?)

The good news is that the Imus Radiothon is raising much more money than it has in the past.

I do not think that he was fired because he was the easy mark over a bad and tasteless joke, nor fired for advertisers(big ones), complaining to CBS and MSNBC about his constantly calling products that competed with his own cottage industry products that he sold on air "C***". Windex, All other cleaners were relagated to this category, but I can see no real issue that would warrant the big advertisers to want to see him out. His firing had nothing to do with that he became complacent and self important, and felt untouchable, and said things that were in bad taste. Surely calling his employers all manner of insults had nothing to do with his dismissal review either.

He is a bigot and a homophobe. He was judged solely on that with no imput from the angry advertisers mad prior to his outburst.

Imus' bosses at CBS and MSNBC hired him to do on-air comedy. In fact, they were some of his favorite targets. I often wondered how he could get away with saying such things about the people who signed his paychecks. Simple: what he was doing caused their checks to be fat too. And in the end, when his behavior threatened their revenues, they fired him.

Hell, a large portion of the funds probably came directly from Limpballs, Coulter, Beck, Savage, Hannity, O'LIElly, Gibson, and Boortz.

No, he gives no more of his precious rich man's time than many of us average American "slug" volunteers for our communities.

Doesn't give him a pass to spew both sexist and racist remarks going on 37+ years. :thumbsdown:

There are many other giving celebrities who can readily take his place.
