Are you pro-life, or pro-profit?
That is what this health care debate truly comes down to, and we are not going to win with reason and open discussions, we have to do it with sound bites, which is why I emailed the following to the DNC, the White House, KO, Ed, Rachael, Randi, and Move-On - now time to hit the blogosphere:

The health care debate is being taken over by ill-informed, irrational people. We cannot allow this bill to pass without a public option, so instead of trying to reason with the unreasonable, we must sway the debate with sound bites. We have to get mean about this one, because it is too important to let outright lies and greed destroy this bill. That is why I am proposing that we frame the debate in this way: Are you pro-life, or pro-profit? If the term 'pro-life' is to be avoided, though I think it should not be, 'pro-people' could work as well. This needs to be a talking point, heard on every cable news show, just as the Republicans try to frame debates. We have to make this a public interest versus corporate interest, the lives of our huddled masses versus the wallets of the greedy execs. Thank you for your consideration and for your hard work for the benefit of all Americans. -Jonathon

4. Whatever we do, we have to go on the offensive
Having laid-back townhall meetings where an enlightened atmosphere of open debate can flourish is great. But some Americans don't respect the free flow of ideas and won't have the patience to listen to and digest an intelligent answer. Some Americans need to be hit over the head, hard, with slogans and catchy phrases. Your idea will work with some of the people.

5. Both...
But not when it comes to Health Care. Good point, it should be used as a talking point.

7. I'm one of those dufuses that tries to pretend there's no contradiction between the two.
"Socially liberal, fiscally conservative"--you know, like an old time Kennebunkport Republican.

8. Why in gawd's name would Dem/Progressives encourage a campaign of people identifying as "Pro LIfe"
:wtf: Come on people, wake UP!!!!!! There's enough watery language floating around the health care debate, among Dem leaders -- including Obama -- regarding women's reproductive and privacy rights; don't make it WORSE.

Would "pro people" vs. "pro profit" do?
"Pro health" vs. "pro profit"
"For People" or "For Profits"?

Why did you broadcast your campaign BEFORE "htiing the blogoshere"?

11. For one we could take back the term
why does being pro-life have to only pertain to the abortion debate, they hijacked that word to make it seem like if you were not anti-abortion, then you would have to be pro-death, I'd like to take it back, and use it in the realm of overall life and health, framing the argument in the same sound bite arena that the repugs do so well in.

12. They did not "hijack it." The created it. It is THEIR creation for an anti-woman agenda
That is why NOT to "take it back."

It's a huge mistake. The history of the word and the homicidal work of the "Pro Life" movement must not be buried under "reframing."

I understand your point. It is a huge mistake, that ignore the history and degrades commitment to women's reproductive and privacy rights.
