Le blond du jour

So now we have yet another "pretty woman" done in by her jealous ex-husband/current husband/boyfriend/jealous lover/jealous ex-lover/whatever, and all the "media" can focus on is the grisly manner in which she was dispatched.

What an excellent opportunity they are passing up, by NOT covering WHY this stuff happens.

Information dribbles out, over the passing hours, and now we find out that she was AFRAID of him, had multiple cell phones so he would not listen to her messages, tried to annul the marriage, was considering legal action to keep him away from her,,,and yet... she goes away for a poker-tournament weekend with him..ALONE..(after she reportedly told an ex that she was afraid of him)

Media could do a real public service by trying to focus on why some women do this, and why is seems to work out so poorly, more times than not.

Not all women in her predicament get murdered, but many get stalked, tormented, beaten up, and generally traumatized.

Every time one of these cases comes along, family & friends come out of the woodwork, with stories about how awful he was to her, and how scared they were for her safety, BUT how come NONE of them had enough influence in her life to keep her from going away for the weekend alone with him?

The real message here should be that no matter HOW rich a guy is, or how charming he is, or how much a woman "loves" him, when love turns to FEAR, it's O V E R ...and being "alone" with them ever again, should be absolutely out of the question.

Murdered model was found without teeth and fingers
World Entertainment News Network
Aug. 21, 2009, 1:58PM

The swimsuit model's former husband, U.S. reality TV contestant Ryan Jenkins, has been charged with her murder and an arrest warrant is out on him as he continues to evade police capture in his native Canada. An international manhunt is underway.Reports suggest Jenkins strangled his ex, before putting her in a suitcase and dumping her in a Buena Park, California trash bin.

But it has now emerged there's more to the killing than first reported.

In a statement released on Thursday, prosecutors explained police officers were stunned when they first found Fiore's remains: "The officers found a large bloodstained gray suitcase containing the body of a Caucasian female. The victim had been badly beaten, all of her fingers had been cut off, and all of her teeth had been forcibly removed." The latest report from prosecutors has further upset Fiore's grieving family and her ex-boyfriend Robert Hasman, who told the Los Angeles Times, "He (Jenkins) is an animal."

Jenkins, a contestant on the VH1 reality show Megan Wants a Millionaire, pleaded guilty to assaulting a girlfriend in 2006 and was sentenced to 15 months’ probation and 80 hours of community service. He also had to undergo domestic violence and sex addiction counselling. He wed Fiore in March, but the couple split after Jenkins allegedly struck the model at a hotel in Las Vegas.

In June, he was charged with battery constituting domestic violence. The pair's marriage was annulled earlier this summer.

6. I believe we have our answer
The Today Show had this as one of their lead stories. I'm not disputing that for the surviving friends and family this murder is a heinous event. But a national story? I think not. However, there are lots of juicy cheesecake photos to run, so the program has the first three minutes of the broadcast all filled up.

Oh, off topic and in reference to the title of the original post, it's "La blonde du jour."

ROCKY MOUNT — The family of a Rocky Mount woman who disappeared more than five months ago is pleading for anyone with information about the case to come forward. Bruce Tucker said he prays his daughter, 37-year-old Yolanda “Snap” Lancaster, is still alive, and he hopes investigators and community activists don’t give up their search.

“I believe someone out there has information,” Tucker said. “They need to come forward before anyone else gets killed.” A community group has worked to raise awareness about missing women from Rocky Mount in recent weeks, ever since police publicly connected the dots last month between a series of missing women and murders in East Rocky Mount. Six Rocky Mount women have been found dead in rural areas outside the city since 2005.

The group has circulated flyers throughout the area and held vigils calling residents to come forward with information. The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office is leading a task force investigation to determine if the murders are related. Some outside profilers say the murders are the work of a serial killer, but authorities will not say if they believe that’s the case.

Tucker said his daughter was “a good girl” who stayed out of trouble. She was friends, though, with at least three of the victims, he said. Tucker said the investigation into the deaths is disturbing. He has lost sleep wondering where his daughter might be. “I want all these girls to come home safe,” Tucker said. “All of them.”

Police are searching for two other missing women in connection with the investigation, Joyce Renee Durham, 46, and Christine Marie Boone, 43.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Rocky Mount Police Department at 252-972-1411.

9. Oh, well there's an easy explanation
See, the murdered woman in the original story had a nice, wholesome, American name, Jasmine. The three women in the Rocky Mount story had really exotic, foreign-sounding names: Yolanda, Joyce and Christine.

Okay, maybe there's something else at work here. But I'll be darned if the major media will be able to see it.
