Remember how we're supposed to be patient
Edited on Fri Aug-21-09 06:55 PM by leftofthedial
because Obama couldn't do the right thing in his first 30 days, er, 60 days, er, 100 days, umm, 200 days?

Well, we're still in Afghanistan. We're still in Iraq. We gave 90%+ of the "stimulus" to rich fat cats. The banks have not been re-regulated. The credit card companies are still screwing everything that wiggles. Unemployment is as high as ever. Foreclosures continue. Health care reform has been gutted to the point that "reform" is no longer an apt description. We still outspend the rest of the world on death machines. The government can still listen to my phone calls and read my emails.

The clock is ticking. It is time to ask Goldman Sachs to allow you to do something--anything--you campaigned on so successfully last year.

Please give this message to Mr. Obama when he gets back from Martha's Vineyard.

2. Sarah Palin? Is that you?
:sarcasm:

Don't you realize that dissent is unpatriotic? It was with Bush and it is with Obama. That's another thing that hasn't changed all that much.

29. I am not that patient..............
But I think in the end history will judge Obama by what he accomplishes in his first (and only?) term. And until then despite what many think there is not $h!t you can do about it anyway, only vote or not vote for said politician come 2012.

31. how long until the lack of any representation in the political system
of the overwhelming plurality on the left in this country results in revolution? We become more peasant-class-like by the hour.

16. end of term
so they squeeze something in at the very end of the term....

all for the purpose of getting re-elected, so we can "be patient" for four more years, while corporate fat cats continue to get theirs, we get watered down gruel for effective legislation, and the republicans, who are the minority party, control every legislative effort put forward.

if the end of the first term is the deadline for patience, there will be no second term.

rahm and geithner (spelling?) haven't a clue. they assume the base will always be here. afterall, where can we go?

(cue jaw's horror music..)

boy are they in for a surprise.

as someone of great intellect once said:

"fool me once, um.., er.., uh, (ponderous pause) can't get fooled again!" (followed by a lop-sided ass smirk)

14. Which of the many things you listen did you expect to be 100% fixed six months in?
Just one of those things? All of them?

You do realize that no person on the planet Earth could have hoped to fix any of those things in such a short amount of time, right? You do realize that no President has the power to do whatever they want any time they want due to the system of checks and balances this country has in place?

Call me crazy here (there's your opening...) but it seems like you just need some machine to rage against and you don't give a good God damn what or who it is.

from making them worse? That would have been nice.

28. Um, did you miss the Bush Years? The Prez can do whatever the hell he wants. Obama needs to sign an
executive orders to extend Medicare to all, to end DADT, etc.

We must finally fight fire with fire.

Oh, and he ought to fire Holder and get someone in to prosecute the Bushies. What they did were actually *crimes*!

19. I gazed into my crystal ball this morning
and saw a one-term presidency for Obama.

See, when you look for republican support to pass legislation when you have a Democratic majority in both houses, you must be wanting to be a one-term president.

When the desire to capitulate to those who oppose you is greater than the desire to actually do what you promised, you lose.

I see no strength in all of the weakness, only a jello spine - just like we have witnessed with Pelosi - everything is off the table because ???

oh, that's right - representing the people of this country is too hard because you are only worrying about elections, not doing the job you took and the one for which you're getting the paycheck.

23. My tarot cards agree with your crystal ball.
I see 1 term, very little of any substance accomplished, and yet the cheerleaders and worshipers continue. :(

He will be the most popular failure of a president we've ever had.

21. We are going to keep hearing how patient we are supposed to be
until the last few minutes of his term. And then their message is going to change, and we're all going to hear about how he WOULD HAVE kept all of those promised if only we had all simply loved him more and been more loyal. :P
