1. Your Poll, Sir, Lacks A "Hell Yes!!!" Option....
Edited on Fri Aug-21-09 07:02 PM by The Magistrate
Someone feisty from a large blue state: Sen. Boxer, perhaps, perhaps Sen. Durbin, the Whip, perhaps Sen. Schuemer. Someone who knows how to hit, and answers to a liberal constituency from a solid seat. The time of these nonentities from windy, empty spaces, hovering on the edge of defeat by some troglodyte Republican nativist, must come to an end....

7. Totally agree, a hard hitter with good speaking skills
Reid wears me out just trying to listen to him.

Foes are already 10 thoughts ahead of his first sentence - we shouldn't give them that edge.

And for that matter, so should Pelosi.

9. Why wasn't there an option for that one?
Because that was my first response.

5. It wouldn't matter. Just exchanging one corporate shill for another.
I don't believe that the few Democrats in Washington who truly do have the guts to represent the actual people first and stand against the pressure of the wealthy elite would ever be allowed anywhere near position like Majority Leader.

6. I want a fire-breathing leader in that position
someone who publicly challenges every obstructionist bit of garbage the Republicans throw up, who tolerates no disinformation from the other side, and who goes on the offensive to promote the Democratic agenda.

18. Mmm....
Yes and no; given I feel most, if not all of the people in the senate (regardless of party) are Special (High income) Interest Troglodytes (*cough*) - it really doesn't matter. You remember the definition of a politician right? A man (or woman) bought and paid for; there are few, if any really, honest politicians that will work for the people - not partisan or financial interests. In fact, Simon Cameron said it best, "An honest politician is one who, when he is bought, will stay bought."

Sarcasm and cynicism aside, I'm actually pretty intrigued by Wyden and Merkley. Granted, I'm partial because they represent my home state, but, having worked with them before - they've earned my utmost respect, admiration, and trust. Franken - well, frankly, I'm not quite sold on him.

20. Wyden is one of the "Blue Cross" senators and is not backing Obama on this health care legislation.

17. I would replace him with...
...a rather worn out pair of sweat socks I have that are stinking up the place. They don't seem to be doing much good here. They surely represent an improvement over Reid in all important respects...though he probably smells better.

28. YES!
Even if it means he loses to a Republican. Sometimes it seems like he is one anyway.

We'd be better off with less votes, and a stronger leader.
