Government run insurance programs - going where private insurance can't or won't:
1) http://www.fema.gov/business/nfip/ - The National Flood Insurance Program

Who needs flood insurance? Everyone. And everyone in a participating community of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) can buy flood insurance. Nationwide, almost 20,000 communities have joined the Program. In some instances, people have been told that they cannot buy flood insurance because of where they live. To clear up this and other misconceptions about National Flood Insurance, the NFIP has compiled the following list of common myths about the Program, and the real facts behind them, to give the full story about this valuable protection.

2) https://www.citizensfla.com/ - Citizens Property Insurance Corporation

Florida's unique exposure to hurricanes caused the Florida Legislature to take extraordinary steps in 2002 to secure the availability of property insurance coverage to all Floridians. On May 4, 2002, Florida's governor signed legislation creating Citizens Property Insurance Corporation (Citizens) by merging the Florida Residential Property and Casualty Joint Underwriting Association (FRPCJUA), which provided homeowners property coverage statewide, and the Florida Windstorm Underwriting Association (FWUA), which provided wind-only coverage in designated coastal areas. Citizens is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt corporation, whose public purpose is to provide policyholders with affordable property insurance protection.

3) http://www.fdic.gov/ - Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation

Mission

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is an independent agency created by the Congress to maintain stability and public confidence in the nation's financial system by:

insuring deposits,
examining and supervising financial institutions for safety and soundness and consumer protection, and
managing receiverships.
Vision

The FDIC is a recognized leader in promoting sound public policies, addressing risks in the nation's financial system, and carrying out its insurance, supervisory, consumer protection, and receivership management responsibilities.

4) http://www.medicare.gov/ - Medicare

Providing medical coverage to America's seniors - of course what we need is Medicare for all - the program should be expanded to cover all Americans.
