The Democratic Senatorial Committee just called for money and she said
it would be used to support senate candidates that would challenge the "conservatives". She made it clear that she was talking about the Democrats who are holding up legislation. We talked about how I could be sure that none of the money would go to the senators who are fighting Obama on health care. I mentioned Ben Nelson and Evan Bayh. I didn't get a clear answer but I thanked her for working tonight and praised her openness. (I already sent my budgeted amount pledged to the DCCC and I'm pissed about it now because I'm not sure that it won't be used for those Blue Dogs)

working for us, the people.

2. Give directly to the Candidates
and in my case if we have no public option... the budgeted money is going in-toto to the ACLU or other progressive organization... none to dems. any of them.

4. NEVER give to the DCCC or DSCC until after the primaries!
Before that the best way you can have control and influence over who represents you and how much they listen to you if elected is to donate DIRECTLY to the candidate of your choice.

6. The DCCC will be calling again. I don't like to dump on those good volunteers, but
I will ask that they pass my comments on to their leaders about their giving money to Blue Dogs.

7. It won't matter, the leaders will spend how they want. On Blue dogs, on whoever they
decide to.

That's why it's better to give directly to who you support.

And the DSCC and the DCCC pay the people who call you up. Which is only right because they are fund raising 5 nights a week, they should be paid. But they aren't volunteers from the DCCC or the DSCC. Just so you know.

13. The woman was lying to you.
One of their main goals is to support incumbent democrats, regardless of whether or not they are holding up legislation.

"What we do is. . . we are an organization of incumbents, and while we certainly find challengers who go up against incumbents, we support incumbents, so I know I didn’t answer your question, but we are supporting Lieberman at this point." -- Schumer, DSCC chair.

And in fact after lieberman lost the primary, the DSCC supported Lieberman, the right wing former dem incumbent over Lamont, the antiwar democratic nominee.

As others said already, give your money to the candidates you want to support, not the organization of incumbents whose self-serving interests override their other values.

Personally, I appreciated Schumer laying it out so openly for me.

14. I'll donate to politicians when they stop taking money from corporations.
I expect it to be a long time before I'll be doing any donating.

15. I received the same call 2 days ago
I told them they would get a donation from me when they started supporting candidates who were real Democrats...not the republican-lites they're infiltrating our party with now.

16. The only time I have EVER given to the national party was while Howard Dean was chairman. Period....
Other than that, I donate directly to candidates' campaigns, whether local, state, or national.

If anyone from the national party gives me a call I would be more than happy to tell them why.

Hekate
