We took advantage of Obama's clunker program. Up until Memorial Day, we had not bought a new car since we got a 79 Caprice. Yep. 30 years. Marta got an Equinox. Today I traded in my 91 Caprice. It was a true clunker. We had kept it just in case we needed a car in an emergency. It's been sitting without moving for months. When we opened the drivers door to clean out the car, we found a wasp nest with a good 40-50 very upset occupants. Two mice were in the trunk. We got it in 94. We got our $ worth. Just short of 139,000 miles.

The Obama plan works and puts workers back to work.

LORDSTOWN — General Motors’ recall of 1,050 local laid-off employees came as a breath of fresh air during suffocating economic times.

He credited the success of the government’s “cash-for-clunkers” program and said the Cobalt is one of the most sought-after vehicles in the program.

1. I live near Akron....
and drive by the plant on the Ohio Turnpike once in a while...was glad to hear they are tooling back up. Things are getting a bit scary around NE Ohio. Good luck with the new chevy....I drive an '08 Malibu, and have had an Impala, and the Equinox...liked them all. If only people that drive around in Audi's and BMW's could buy a few Chevy's maybe we wouldn't be in such sad shape. I find them to be very offensive and nasty on the highway, no mind to anyone else...just blast by at 85! I drive about 35,000 miles a year so I notice.

2. The average MPG difference is now 10 MPG between the clunker
and the new car purchased. Great story. You got a really safe reliable new car and reduced your carbon footprint to boot.

Have a great day with Chevrolet.........
