House Preparing Impeachment Charges Against Sanford
House Preparing Impeachment Charges Against Sanford

In what could become the first step of a formal legislative effort to remove scandal-plagued S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford from office, impeachment charges are reportedly being drafted within the S.C. House of Representatives, multiple sources have confirmed to FITS.

We’re also hearing that the preparation of these charges is originating from the committees of two respected Republican lawmakers – and that the process was already “well underway” prior to today’s revelation of additional travel-related indiscretions on the part of the embattled governor.

Evidently tired of waiting on S.C. House Speaker Bobby Harrell to authorize a more aggressive response to the snowballing Sanford scandal, several rank-and-file House members have reportedly decided to go around Harrell – which would obviously be disastrous news for the governor.

1. We need a Sanford resignation pool.
I'd pick September 4, 2009, 11:30 a.m.

Even his sense of entitlement has limits.

12. Unless he is threatened with political and /or criminal action,
he will NEVER resign. It wouldn't fit his psychological profile (NPD,imo).

The only other reason he'd resign would be to in order to hook up with his "soul mate", but I'd be willing to bet he'd even sacrifice her on the alter of his own ego.

2. Keep him
I am aware that he is term limited out, but wouldn't the Democrats' chances of retaking the governorship be stronger with him continuing to languish in office?

4. I hope he makes a rambling, incoherent resignation speech like Palin's. They
make great spoken word bits for William Shatner. ;)

13. In addition to being investigated for personal use of state aircraft,
the AP is reporting that he has taken many flights on private planes which did also didn't disclose (a violation of ethics law in SC).

I think this stuff is just the tip of the iceberg. He thinks the rules don't apply to him. After all, he IS a member of the "Family", and as such, he's been chosen by God. This fits perfectly with classic narcissistic personality disorder or anti-social personality disorder (sociopath). Take your pick as to which one you think best describes him.

8. The Lt. Governor has already proven to be an ass.
There are probably already a list of violations about him too.

He's the reason that Sanford isn't long gone.

9. Gawd - can't stand Bauer - what a snot he is
Got caught speeding on Main Street - and claimed it was OK because he was "SC2" remember how ridiculous that all was? And then he made a big deal about walking to work. What an ass.

I still think we should do away with elections in SC and just have people selected to serve by lottery. We surely couldn't do any worse! And more demographics would be represented just on the randomness of it all.

10. I like the lottery idea!
There would be as much common sense as there is now.

14. I thought he calmed down quite a bit after surviving that plane crash.
I haven't heard anything negative about him since his "Come to Jesus" encounter.
