Independent Women's Forum: "Government control of health care here...
could have meant 300,000 American women with breast cancer might have died."

And how about the thousands of women, and yes; men who actually did die from breast cancer in that same length of time, either undiagnosed, or diagnosed and untreated, due to lack of insurance?

A "non-partisan" group spewing lies and half-truths. Independent, my ass. Wonder who is funding them?

Scare tactics...not just for Republics any more. :eyes:

1. They're not "independent" They're right-wingers.

2. They're tied, tightly, to the r/w.
Our mission is to rebuild civil society by advancing economic liberty, personal responsibility, and political freedom. IWF builds support for a greater respect for limited government, equality under the law, property rights, free markets, strong families, and a powerful and effective national defense and foreign policy. IWF is home to some of the nation's most influential scholars—women who are committed to promoting and defending economic opportunity and political freedom.

That's from their "about" page. They've got all the buzzwords. Oh, and their staff?

Michelle D. Bernard
President and CEO

Michelle D. Bernard is the president and CEO of the Independent Women's Forum (IWF) and an MSNBC political analyst. Bernard is a regular panelist with MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews and The McLaughlin Group, as well as a Sunday columnist with The Examiner.

----------------

Who is Michelle Bernard?

On the surface, the question is easily answered. At present, Bernard is CEO of the Independent Women’s Forum, a conservative women’s group founded in 1992. (According to Wikipedia, the IWF grew out of an ad hoc group created to support Clarence Thomas.) The groups directors emeritae include such conservative stars as Lynn Cheney, Wendy Gramm, Midge Decter and Kate O’Beirne. To peruse the group’s web site, just click here.

The IWF, like many such groups, is founded as a non-partisan 501(c)(3) group. As such, the group does not endorse candidates. But it does promote a range of conservative causes.

4. I'm so sorry. I can only imagine.
These type of people are the lowest of the scum. They will use anyone's pain to further their fear mongering.

Can you do a letter to the editor to address the ads? Would that be a way to vent for you?

I know that sounds like making hay with your pain as well; just first thought I had of trying to re-direct toward a target. Sometimes that kind of thing works for me.

5. Aw, thank you...
I re-directed years ago. I vent by preaching to others about being their own best health advocate.

What pisses me off is that this group is playing to other women's fears. I've talked with both groups of women, and individuals. Breast cancer is one of their biggest fears. And with today's health care system, they probably should be scared. The percentage of women who are still told to "wait and watch" is frightening.

I received what I believe to be the best care humanely possible after my diagnosis, a top-notch specialist for the surgery, and an oncologist who is very well known, flies around to different countries to discuss research, and has testified multiple times before Congress.

Every single person in this country deserves the exact same quality of treatment I received.

Take care.
