OMG, What Have You People Done?

You people are absolutely amazing. Give you a little idea like handing out Carrots instead of Sticks, and what do you do with it?

You raise more fracking money for the Progressive Dems in a just a few days than the pharma/health insurance industry has spent buying off its Blue Dog poodles in the whole year. That's what.

You heard me right: the $347,000 and counting you've raised for signatories on behalf of the public option has absolutely dwarfed the money used to buy off the Blue Dogs--to tune of $5,341 per progressive member from you, versus $4,401 from the anti-reform industries per Blue Dog. That's amazing...

1. Imagine what could be done, if
we could get the selling/lease price for each member of Congress. We might be able to buy/rent back our representatives for a limited period.

Wonder, of wonders, when does the bidding start?

5. As cynical as this is, I think it's a fascinating concept. This could potentially be the power that
took back representation. Imagine the public as one enormous lobby for our own good.

Most thought provoking post I've read in a long time. Nice job!

34. Actually what would be better is to use a stick made out of a carrot on them
Make a PAC dedicated to seeing someone in favor of serious health care reform elected in those districts. All money donated to the PAC spread amongst those dictricts, either to them, if they come out in favor of (or vote for) it, or primary challangers if not.

This is the equivalent of firing a gun near their heads, you know like we did when we were torturing people.

I have very few discretionary dollars to throw around anymore, but the instant I saw this fundraising effort I got out my plastic. I'm thrilled to have helped send a message to those dirty-dog Dems.

16. You know, I was listening to an NPR report this morning...
I don't remember who it was, but they were saying how Obama supporters weren't showing up to defend health care reform, how they were too exhausted after all the activism of the election. It was demoralizing. But this news belies that. Thank you! I'm so glad I read this post.

20. Listening to NPR is Demoralizing
Since this whole healthcare reform "debate" began they have been doing their best to make any effort at reform look bad. I remember one show they did a couple of weeks ago where they had an "expert" from the Lewin Group on and, the following day, one of their sponsors was (surprise surprise) the Lewin Group. NPR has been in the crapper for a long time with the rightward slant on their "reporting".

22. YOU PEOPLE??? I AM OFFENDED!!!!
Okay, not really. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity.

It's impressive that real grassroots organizing can raise this kind of money, but it's also a shame... VOTING should be enough to have the will of the People done; we shouldn't have to donate money on top of that.

23. Time to put all legislation and elections up on eBay--I'm serious--politicians sell out for
pennies on the dollar to corporate interests. We the people have an excellent chance to out bid them and buy our own legislation and politicians.

27. That is an interesting idea. Put up, say Max Back-ass, in name only and donate all
the proceeds to fighting for health care. Have a card board cut out of him. He is a public figure, I don't think there will be a lawsuit.

29. this is awesome!
thanks for posting this!! We are a powerful group:-)

We;ll get this done. they try to demoralize us, try to scare us, lie to us and tell us Obama is defecting, etc -- but we are strong and we will not be defeated in this!

We are the progressives; hear us roar!

Just a fun note: It took Sarah Palin a year to raise just under a million dollars for her SarahPac and "trust fund", and the Republicans call her their "Fund Raising Giant". I say, suck on this, Poujadist Princess!

Eat our Dust!
