If Security Level ORANGE Was A Political Ploy

...To influence the 2004 Presidential elections then when does the Obama administration lower it back to yellow that is if there is no credible threats against us.

This was an abuse of power and the electorate of this country.....perp walks should start and Tom Ridge should be at the front of the line...

1. Put the neo-con war criminals in prison would allow it to be Green well into
the foreseeable future.

2. I don't think Ridge should be targeted
Since he did not permit them to do it, according to his book.

But he should be used as a starting point to gather evidence to slam the real criminals.

3. They didn't do it THAT time
and I doubt it was because Ridge "stopped" them. More likely Rove decided the OBL tape was enough at that point without risking a backlash. There were plenty of other dubious "threats" that Tom Ridge went right along with. Not only that, waiting until years later to speak out for cash doesn't earn him a pass. That being said, I'm not sure making shit up about the made up color code alert system was a crime anyway.

5. Lol - "making shit up about the made up color code alert system"
Yeah, not sure where that is listed in the criminal codes.

But it seems like it could fit into some kind of crime, maybe even treason.

4. Why didn't Ridge speak publically then and resign then?
He waited until AFTER the election to resign. As Ed Shultz said yesterday, Ridge kept that piece of information to himself until he could put it in a book and profit from it.

6. Indeed. That earns him the 'asshole of the month' award
But I don't think it is criminal.

7. if ORANGE was a ploy....why cant people accept that ALL of it was a ploy?
Everything that was supposed to scare us was put there to scare us by our own government.

I'm not going to say that Dick or George crashed two planes, but since we are accepting the baby steps that are gradually getting us there, how long will it take before this idea wont be sent away to darkened conspiracy corners?

8. Exactly.
Rachel Maddow commented on one of her shows earlier this week that many had suspected actions like this on the part of Bushco for a very long time. They were told to get out their tin foil hats. And now, we learn that some of the tin foil hat stuff was reality.

I do wonder how long it will be before the events of September 11th are known. Honestly, I don't see all that much difference between manipulating public sentiment with the color-coded warnings and...well, I'll just leave it at that.

Manipulation is manipulation. People who do these things do it because it will get them what they want. Bush wanted a war with Iraq, and he said so early in his first term. He certainly got what he wanted, and it would have been hard to get there without September 11th.
