Was Oil Part of a Deal for the Lockerbie Bomber?

Was it an oil deal? Convicted Lockerbie bomber Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi flew home from a Scottish prison on Thursday, freed by the Scottish government on compassionate grounds because doctors say Megrahi's cancer will kill him within three months. But was that the real reason? Could Britain have traded Megrahi in return for lucrative deals with the energy-rich North African nation?

1. I sure did get a strong sense
that some pay-off like deal was arranged. It must of been a doozie!

2. I was thinking it might be a deal with Iran. Scottland is one
of the few friendly countries with Iran, and releasing that prisoner might be an effort to get Iran to release those ladies who are being held in Iran for illegally crossing the border.

No matter what, I think we can be sure there is some deal going on for something.

3. McCain, Lieberman, Graham and Collins were in Libya last week. Not just Britain. U.S. oil contract
too. McCain has been lobbying for normalizing relations with Libya for years in return for their oil. Coincidence, I think not.
