What demand there was, and what personal financial confidence there was, will evaporate as soon as the big savings are gone.

I predict there will be a second round of the program, maybe early next year after the dismal Xmas we all know is coming.

I also think home buyer tax credits will either be extended or there will be a second round of them next Spring. This depression ain't over, no matter how much sunshine the financial geniuses try to blow up our asses.

1. This depression won't be over until we make JOBS. The government must begin to realize that

helping the parasitic corporations does nothing to help the People.
Dare to dream that the government machine was put to work raising our standard of living
at the expense of the monetary elite?

2. If I were counseling the Democrats/Obama, I'd take 2 things from this program.
(1) Target US manufacturer's of auto's only for future programs.
(2) Target very high mileage options....give electric/hybrid cars an incentive on future sales. If cars are getting 50+ MPG, give them the max credit...40 MPG, a smaller credit, 30 MPG smaller, still.

3. I have been saying this all along, in a couple months
the cash for clunkers will prove to be a big mistake all it does is move sales forward. It is also unfair taking taxes from some people to subsidize another's auto purchase. You tell me why someone can get cash for a car that gets 18 MPG for a car that gets just 2 more MPG. While another person can't get squat for a car that gets 19 MPG to buy a car that gets 30 more MPG?

4. I agree. It burned up the next few month's demand. Sales will fall flat. nt
