Neither, either way you end up dead, but which one happens more often to Americans, and by what sort of percentage? I would venture far more Americans die from some preventable cause or from lack of medical attention because of money, than die from an enemy sniper or an enemy bomb attack. What percentage of America's GDP do we spend protecting us from that enemy bomber compared to protecting us from illness, which IMO is by far more deadly to Americans. Defense spending should be just that.. Defense...Defense from anything that Kills and Harms Americans. Is that a Hard Concept to Grasp? Health Care is a Defense Matter..

2. Spell check doesn't work when both spellings are correct
I admit to being slightly retarded when it comes to grammer. I actually changed it once and then changed it back, going with my first instinct... Wrong again.. Thanks for clueing me in. :-)

8. Dieing is correct?

You got me there -- you're right, spell check didn't pick it up. But I got curious and looked it up at dictionary.com. Dying is the form for ceasing to live, dieing is used with machinery. So we're both right and we're both wrong. I stand corrected...sort of.

And, to answer your original question, dying by lack of medical care is far worse, IMHO.

4. That would be a SANE way to measure...
...what threatens the average citizen.

But that leaves out the PROFIT FACTOR. The top 1 to 5% need to stay in control and continue to make profits. They do this by exploiting the avg citizen and controlling how they think, what they like/love, and what they fear.

Could be that the truth is obvious...the real terrorists are inside the US...and have been all along? The "war on terror" is a war on those who threaten profits.

Global warming is a threat...to citizens and as some are afraid...to profits.

Peak oil is threat to both citizens and profits.

Biggest fear of the top 1 to 5% is that the avg citizen might be able to put 2 and 2 together and understand where the real threats are coming from? Look an the basic incompetence of those leading this country over the last so many years. I'm afraid that the real threat isn't coming from outside the country.

The biggest issue is the "need" for continual economic growth which is rushing headlong into the brick wall of resource depletion...global warming...overpopulation. Will our incompetent leaders deal with this...or allow the crash to happen? Guess.......

Electing Obama has changed next to nothing so far.....because we have the same military...same finance sector...same healthcare sector...same energy sector....etc...etc...

Corporations as proxies for the wealthy run this country...for their own benefit...not yours...though their advertising always tells you otherwise.

6. More Americans die from medical mistakes than die from terrorism
but I haven't seen any good statistics regarding how many Americans die because of lack of medical care.

The death rate from preventable disease is heavily influenced by chronic diseases that are more prevalent due to bad lifestyle choices, e.g. obesity, smoking, drinking, drug use (including abused prescription drugs), STDs, etc.

7. Dead is dead, so I can't decide. But with BIPARTISANSHIP we don't have to!
We can have both endless war in Asia AND a collapsing, horrifically expensive and wasteful healthcare "market" that leaves tens of millions uninsured and untreated.

9. it all depends
I'd rather drop dead from a heart attack then be at the edge of a nuke firestorm, or linger a while with radiation sickness.

BUT, I'd also rather be at ground zero of a nuke then die a slow, miserable death from some disease or other. In fact, after PBS did a program several decades ago on the effects if a nuke hit Boston, along with the evacuation plan (out Rte. 2), my friends and I immediately concluded that in the event a nuke was headed to Beantown, we'd drive *into* the city to be at ground zero, which beat sitting in traffic somewhere in west-central Mass awaiting the firestorm while trying to get to a NH town that officials had never bothered to notify would be the destination of evacuees. Presumably because officials had seen the state roads during rush hour and knew none of us was going anywhere.

10. Our 'puke society would rather spends trillions of dollars developing sophisticated weaponry to kill
the current bogeyman with chilling efficiency and to incarcerate non-violent drug offenders than save tens of thousands of lives each year by providing health care generally available to all in most of the civilized world. This is the chilling essence of 'puke core values. :P
