Has any Democrat pointed out that it was the republicans who were against Medicare?
It was the republicans who were against social security?
It was the republican policy which removed regulation, and brought us the financial crisis we are now in?
It was a republican administration who outed a CIA agent.
It was a republican administration, that lied us into Iraq, spending trillions of dollars, and yet, cannot support a healthcare plan to help its citizens

1. Oh no, it would be VICIOUSLY PARTISAN to point out the truth.

You would brand yourself as a left-of-the-left extremist.

2. Never never do you hear Democrats on the Hill make this argument
Could it be that Conservative Democrats(Centrist, DLC, Blue Dogs)
have so much in Common with the Republican Party, that they cannot
seriously attack GOP??? I have wondered about this for a long
time.

3. Eh. I'm not sure how much continuity there is to the previous party system
I don't really think either party bears much resemblance to its early 1960's version. There's enough generation-old grievances being dragged into this fight already.

7. Republicans have always been for business
Democrats have always been for workers. Republicans were calling FDR a socialist for chrissake. It goes way way back. Same people who oppose progress every time, southern Democrats and conservative Republicans.

13. Much like the handful of northeastern Republicans
We have today. But who really can't make any permanent progress because they just can't break away from the free market thinking.

14. FDR, ironically, ran on a "free market" platform in '32

complaining that Hoover was interfering with the economy too much.

I'm just saying, there are a lot of alignments that have switched between the parties in the last century or so, and our party hasn't particularly been a shining light a lot of that time.

15. Bush interfered with the economy too
In the wrong way. I don't particularly care what FDR ran on, when he got into office he knew what had to be done and he did it. When did a Republican ever do anything for the people, willingly? Never.

16. Lincoln? TR? Taft?
TR and Taft did a whole lot for this country; to say nothing of Lincoln. Plus Congressional players like Longworth; these guys actually got the Progressive agenda of the 1920's established (child labor laws, food safety, etc.).

17. Puhleeze
Lincoln was ridiculed by the exact same southerners and business owners that ridicule Democrats today. He was for the people and was no more a Republican in the modern sense than Dennis Kucinich. Teddy did great for the wilderness, because *he* liked the outdoors, just like every good Republican who can't see further than the end of their very self-centered nose.

The Progressive Movement was a bunch of high class snobby women who had nothing better to do with their time. Too high class to get in the muck (and political party) of the people they purported to help. Yeah for them, a lot of good came from their efforts. But don't confuse it with people who are there through thick and thin, for the long haul. It's not Republicans.

And you might want to read an accurate account of the 1932 election instead of the revisionist crap right wing radio has been spewing the last few years.

But again, never count on this site for anything truthful about a Democrat - not if it's positive anyway.

8. Obama is ONLY part of one branch of service. I don't see it in any of the commercials FOR
healthcare? I don't see Congress doing a very effective job of countering

18. They are threatening my life, and fromf Obama administration they have given
very mixed messages from Siebilus, Gibbs, and other unnamed senior advisor. If he can't control his own staff then your darn right I am going to include him

If I am very lucky, I will have a job through the end of the year, but the odds are quite good that it is going to be off-shored no later than the end of next year

I have hypertension, and reduced kidney function, I lose my job, you tell me who is going to insure me, or my family for that mater?

I take this VERY personally, and I will hold the Democrats VERY accountable, because my life is being threatened

11. Of course, but until the public option turns into a missing blonde female
It won't be given any air time on the net/cables.

Oh, if only the insurance companies were sharks and we were helpless swimmers, perhaps the media would get interested!

Wait a minute. We are. And the sharks are paying the media billions to ignore our cries for help.
