Has any Democrat pointed out that it was the republicans who were against Medicare?

It was the republicans who were against social security?
It was the republican policy which removed regulation, and brought us the financial crisis we are now in?
It was a republican administration who outed a CIA agent.
It was a republican administration, that lied us into Iraq, spending trillions of dollars, and yet, cannot support a healthcare plan to help its citizens

I don't really think either party bears much resemblance to its early 1960's version. There's enough generation-old grievances being dragged into this fight already.

Democrats have always been for workers. Republicans were calling FDR a socialist for chrissake. It goes way way back. Same people who oppose progress every time, southern Democrats and conservative Republicans.

We have today. But who really can't make any permanent progress because they just can't break away from the free market thinking.

I'm just saying, there are a lot of alignments that have switched between the parties in the last century or so, and our party hasn't particularly been a shining light a lot of that time.

In the wrong way. I don't particularly care what FDR ran on, when he got into office he knew what had to be done and he did it. When did a Republican ever do anything for the people, willingly? Never.

TR and Taft did a whole lot for this country; to say nothing of Lincoln. Plus Congressional players like Longworth; these guys actually got the Progressive agenda of the 1920's established (child labor laws, food safety, etc.).

Lincoln was ridiculed by the exact same southerners and business owners that ridicule Democrats today. He was for the people and was no more a Republican in the modern sense than Dennis Kucinich. Teddy did great for the wilderness, because *he* liked the outdoors, just like every good Republican who can't see further than the end of their very self-centered nose.

The Progressive Movement was a bunch of high class snobby women who had nothing better to do with their time. Too high class to get in the muck (and political party) of the people they purported to help. Yeah for them, a lot of good came from their efforts. But don't confuse it with people who are there through thick and thin, for the long haul. It's not Republicans.

If I am very lucky, I will have a job through the end of the year, but the odds are quite good that it is going to be off-shored no later than the end of next year
