What are the odds Glenn Eck or Sarah Flailin will ever mention the plight of Sun Hudson?

1. That didn't really happen. That is just a made up lie. Why do you hate America?
You're a nazi. You're a fascist. Obama is a Kenyan fraud. It's my reality and I say so.

Sorry. Just channeling a rw tool who wouldn't believe this story if you showed it to them in black-and-white. See, everything is different when a Republican does it. Don't you know that by now?

:sarcasm: <------ In case it's really necessary.

3. "Show me the penis!!!"
Hoping that sign appears at some Tea Bagger Town Hall protest eventually.

5. But that wasn't a case where better medical care would have made a difference
the kid was going to die, regardless of what was done. Terminal genetic disorders tend to be, well, terminal.

No matter what healthcare system we end up with, there will always be kids born with disorders like this, that cannot be helped, unfortunately. And in either case (private or federal) spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to extend their lives by days can't really be defended, especially when they are going to be in agony the whole time.

It would be considered cruel to keep a pet alive for days, in suffering, just because you can't let go. Euthanasia is considered the compassionate thing. But for some reason it is compassion to keep our children and elderly in pain, and cruel to let them die painlessly.

I don't understand humanity some times.

6. You are so right.
That's why this is such a difficult issue. Because it isn't all black and white; there are so many situations where decisions like that have to be made.

Yet the people closest to that little child were understandably grasping for a miracle and would not want to let him go.

7. Unfortunately the person closest to the child
was clearly insane.

She thought the sun was the kids father. Not in some sort of figurative sense, but the actual bright yellow thing in the sky.

"She believes her child was conceived with the sun in the sky, which is why she named him Sun.

"No one was with me when I was alone on a cold, winter night being shown the beauty of the earth. I've never seen the moon and the stars the way the sun above showed the moon and the stars to me," Hudson said."

I doubt she could have been trusted to make the right, informed decision.

8. Yes, we all know that. But this is still the exact same thing Beck and Palin rail about.
And it pisses me off!

9. We can't let those freak faces push us to the polar opposite position
We are more thoughtful and nuanced than that.

The whole death panel accusation is just silly.

But just because Palin et al pushed us into a corner with this accusation doesn't mean we sit in the corner and sulk.

There are real decisions that are being made every day by families, doctors, hospitals and insurance companies. What we need to do is get better control of how the decisions are being made and who is making them.

10. And I am disappointed in how this administration and many in Congress failed to anticipate attacks
and failed to take the upper hand from the brain-dead Limbaughts.

11. So far it has been amateur hour in the White House
Which is unfortunate because he tackled the biggest toughest issue right out of the gate.

Let's hope he is a quick learner, although it is hard to see how he will salvage this one to our satisfaction.

14. We're ALL going to die. We're ALL terminal.

But parents have the right to decide on what treatment their children get and whether and when to withdraw that treatment.

And families should have a say in this. The law that Bush passed gave families NO VOICE in these matters.

It's real fucking easy to tell people to let go, when you're not in their shoes. I don't want some fucking doctor telling me to "let go" because an insurance company is on his ass to lower their costs.

And, did you know that many of these cases end up with the patient leaving the hospital and going home for weeks, for months, and even for YEARS?

When you let someone besides loved ones decide who should get treatment and who should not, you're on a slippery fucking slope, my friend.
