A list I'm putting together to highlight the services they likely use on a regular (or as-needed) basis:



So, you say you don't like socialism? You don't want the government running anything? Wellll....

Don't EVER say you honor and support our military. The military (even including private, outsourced companies like Blackwater) are all paid and supplied by the Federal government.

Don't EVER call 911 for a medical, fire or police emergency. Emergency services are largely provided for by public servants using government-provided equipment and training.

Don't EVER drive on a federal or state or local highway. You can only drive on roads built and maintained by private companies. You'll really have to do this as you will not have a driver's license which is a product of a government agency.

Don't EVER buy any food that passed an FDA inspection. You have to grow your own fruits and vegetables and raise your own cattle, pigs, chickens, etc. Same goes for any medications.

Don't EVER visit a National, State, or Local park and especially don't participate in any activities there (fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, etc. that would require further expenditures for licenses.)

Don't EVER be in a position you would need a public defender. They are paid for via public dollars.

Don't EVER expect or ask for the prosecution against someone who did you harm, directly or indirectly. The judicial system, you see, is a government-run agency paid for by our tax dollars and other fees.

Don't EVER visit a public library and use the resources there as tax dollars bought those books, PCs, etc.

Don't EVER put your children in public schools (elementary, high school, or college). The elementary and high schools are free via tax dollars. Teachers are paid via tax dollars.

Don't EVER apply for Medicaid if you become disabled or indigent and need assistance such as food stamps, medical care, utility bill assistance or job training. After all, you don't want other Americans who have no insurance to have it paid for via tax dollars, why should you get to take part in that system?

Don't EVER accept Medicare after you retire and no longer have any type of private health insurance.

Don't EVER accept any Social Security payment after you no longer work or a spouse has died. Live off of your private investments or the charity of friends and family.

Don't EVER apply for a small business loan from any government agency. Where do you think that money would come from anyway?

Don't EVER ask the government for help in getting child support payments from a deadbeat spouse.

Don't EVER apply for Unemployment if you should happen to lose your job.

Don't EVER mail a letter via the USPS and contact every single entity that would otherwise use the USPS for mailing you items to have them sent via UPS, FEDEX, or electronic delivery.

Don't EVER visit a museum that was built or is maintained or operated by any government agency.

Me? I have no health insurance right now. In order to get it I have to take a $3/hr cut in pay ($520/month) PLUS deductibles PLUS co-pays.

There aren't any hospitals that don't receive any Government money. They receive Medicare reimbursements. Government inspects them to ensure quality and safety. All of their supplies are delivered on taxpayer funded roads. Most waste disposal is handled by taxpayer funded systems

Europe gets six fucking weeks of paid vacation, we get 13 days if we're lucky. Oh the horror of socialism!

One heartless SOB wouldn't give one of the underlings Dec. 26 off so that she could have an extra day to return from visiting family at Christmas. He declared "No vacation time over the holidays." And, for the most part, Americans just take it without a lot of complaining because they need the lousy job with the equally lousy benefits.

People in enlightened countries expect their government to look out for them. In this country what few protections we have are courtesy of the government. The private sector doesn't give a shit.

I don't get paid vacation at my job - I just don't get aid when I'm not here - so i have to plan my trips very carefully. I hope Obamasets out to reform our vacation time. Maybe if the freeper fuckwads actually saw how the real world works they might actually give a shit.

The only thing I will say -- I don't have to advise students and I don't have to attend Faculty Senate or serve on a committee. Otherwise.....I teach 3 classes, just like many of the tenured, who also get a paid sabbatical (that's a year off) every 7 years.

But... no medical, dental, or eye coverage. Finally got a 401K (and then look what happened... tee hee).

I love my job. I love teaching. I'd probably work for less if they covered my health care.

How many MORE services could the government provide in a way that enhances our lives?

Should the government take over ALL food production and distribution (above and beyond subsidies, inspections and food stamps)? Too much disparity between what rich people can afford to eat and what poor people can afford. Too much bad, fat, empty food - if the Feds have 100% control over what's on the shelves, our diets can be directed towards healthy, sustainable, organic foods.

Jobs: All hiring should be done by ONE central agency - the Office of Occupational Assignment. This organization would have a mandate to place people in jobs needed by society, irrespective of the factors that people use to discriminate in employment.

Housing: Along with food and health care, we need housing to survive. By nationalizing all residential property, the government can assure that everyone has a home, and no one has more home than they need. People can be assigned residence based on their personal, health, and occupational requirements, and not merely on "what they can afford".

The "ownership society" has led to wide disparities in standards of living. Only by public ownership of every home and enterprise, with crushing penalties on the underground markets that will spring up, can we create a truly egalitarian society.

We have lost the peace -- with out culture now permeated by violence. Our police enforcement
more often directed against the public than serving it. Entertainment -- movies/TV filled

Our communities are dominated by bank buildings and medical services as our illnesses grow
and our personal assets dwindle.

Cameras placed in open areas speak clearly to a loss of freedom, willingly surrendered for a
hope of feeling secure!

Most Americans are working longer hours now with stagnant wages -- my kids frequently work
on Saturdays to "catch up" . . . in this downward spiral of employment.

MIC has delivered a system where 45,000 private corporations and as many mercenaries are
involved in Iraq as our own troops -- but they were supposedly unable to protect us from
19 terrorists which the entire world was warning us about for months before.

Rather than security, as America surrenders its values to "torture" and illegal wars, we have
seen nothing but more corruption and crime by capitalism.

Rather than enriching our lives we are throwing our lives away to materialism and fear-based
remedies -- in many ways we have begun to live the GOP's dream of "third world America."

The construction of which was funded by federal dollars -- spearheaded, btw, by one Al Gore.

(on a side note...My FIL informed me that in order to keep his private health insurance that he had before retiring, he MUST enroll in MEDICARE when he turns 65. Can anyone say forced Socialism via Health insurance industry?)

NEVER accept Medicare after you retire and no longer have any type of private health insurance.



NEVER accept any Social Security payment after you no longer work or a spouse has died. Live off of your private investments or the charity of friends and family.

NEVER say you honor and support our military. The military (even including private, outsourced companies like Blackwater) are all paid and supplied by the Federal government.

NEVER call 911 for a medical, fire or police emergency. Emergency services are largely provided for by public servants using government-provided equipment and training.



NEVER apply for Medicaid if you become disabled or indigent and need assistance such as food stamps, medical care, utility bill assistance or job training. After all, you don't want other Americans who have no insurance to have it paid for via tax dollars, why should you get to take part in that system?



NEVER put your children in public schools (elementary, high school, or college). The elementary and high schools are free via tax dollars. Teachers are paid via tax dollars.

NEVER drive on a federal or state or local highway. You can only drive on roads built and maintained by private companies. You'll really have to do this as you will not have a driver's license which is a product of a government agency.



NEVER apply for Unemployment if you should happen to lose your job.

NEVER buy any food that passed an FDA inspection. You have to grow your own fruits and vegetables and raise your own cattle, pigs, chickens, etc. Same goes for any medications.

NEVER visit a National, State, or Local park and especially don't participate in any activities there (fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, etc. that would require further expenditures for licenses.)

NEVER be in a position you would need a public defender. They are paid for via public dollars.

NEVER expect or ask for the prosecution against someone who did you harm, directly or indirectly. The judicial system, you see, is a government-run agency paid for by our tax dollars and other fees.

NEVER visit a public library and use the resources there as tax dollars bought those books, PCs, etc.

NEVER apply for a small business loan from any government agency. Where do you think that money would come from anyway?

NEVER mail a letter via the USPS and contact every single entity that would otherwise use the USPS for mailing you items to have them sent via UPS, FEDEX, or electronic delivery.

NEVER visit a museum that was built or is maintained or operated by any government agency.

And your point on being able to shop insurance across state lines will fall upon deaf ears if you're addressing private insurers. Same can be said for carrying insurance from one job to the next. And Medicare costs could be lower if the previous Republican Congress and Republican administration hadn't passed Medicare Part D without the ability to negotiate prices. What a GIFT to the pharmaceutical industry.

So, go slink on back to Freeperville and try preaching to your choir first. Get them to understand that 30 years of Trickle-Down Economics has nearly devastated our economy (plus the outsourcing of our skilled labor to other nations).
