Our nation would rather pay for a needless war than health care
Edited on Sun Aug-23-09 09:16 PM by jasmeel
Ever wonder why we never hear the price tag of war(esp a needless one)when ALL we hear about from the talking heads is how we can't afford health care. My local news station tells me the cost of health care reform is apparently 9,000,000,000,000? How much did the war in Iraq cost? Fuck if they know or even care. If u think too much about it you'll go insane.

Just had to vent to a sympathetic audience.

1. I agree - it's sickening. So now that the military says we need more troops...
...in Afghanistan, will the President rethink this folly?

3. Aside from the war(s), the US is already spending well over 1 Trillion dollars...
... per year on health care. That's what drives me crazy about the "where's the money going to come from argument?". The money (and then some) is already going to private health insurance!

5. And that's because the wars and our lousy health care "system"
provide big profits for those who make big campaign "donations".

6. I agree
also, the US government has already paid for healthcare many times over just with our involvement with Iraq. Added with the horrible waste of our tax dollars every year also. Everytime they say where we are going to get the money it really steams me.

9. Make that two needless wars
Don't forget that Obama is doubling down on Afghanistan. Being as that Osama has been long thought dead in many knowledgeable quarters and the nineteen hijackers were from points not Afghanistan, what are we doing there?

Oh, yeah, pipline, gas, carpet of bombs, etc. etc.

But health care for US citizens, phhhpt, war has always had pride of place. After all what better, quicker method for transferring wealth into private hands than a war?

12. Not true
the American people do NOT want wars. The corporate leaders do. It makes them richer. They are all invested in arms and oil. Wars are good for them. They are such liars! Sickening.

I watched a programme on "peak oil" last night. After the oil runs out there will be fewer wars. (Oh I mean after the wars for the few remaining sources are over. Course none of us may survive the wars for oil.)

But the corporate politicians will die rich. Ain't it wonderful?
