Once again the white man is being treated unfairly!
http://www.insidebayarea.com/dailyreview/localnews/ci_13189526?source=rss

Still, the economy has given many whites and middle-aged Americans legitimate reason to feel angry, fearful or threatened. This recession has taken a far larger share of jobs from older men, particularly white men, than earlier economic downturns.

During the six decades since World War II, the unemployment rate for men 55 and older averaged 3.7 percent, and reached 7 percent in only a single month — February 1950, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Then came 2009.

So far this year, the monthly unemployment rate for men 55 and older has been almost double the historical average.

At 6.7 percent and 6.5 percent during the first two quarters of 2009, the unemployment rate for older white men is higher than it has ever been since the government began tracking that group, in the early 1950s. Unemployment rates for black and Latino men, however, are lower than the peak they hit during the recession of the early 1980s.

So, you know... us white people have a legitimate reason for our racist bullshit. :sarcasm:

1. Been trying to tell the white males, for 30 years now, the CORPORATIONS are out to get them
Women and minorities were just one of man diversions. Giant corporations want the American workforce to accept Third World conditions. So much easier than having managers learn foreign languages.

2. Mudcat Saunders
I remember Mudcat talking about retraining workers. He said something like, those guys didn't go to school the first time. They showed them what to do and they did it. They don't want to go back to school and won't do well if they have to.
I know a lot of mill and factory workers just like that. If they lose their jobs they are screwed. As it is you could buy a chimp to replace them. They don't understand that they make good money because, and only because, of the labor movement. Without unions their work would still be basically slave labor.
Yet they vote Republican to protect their guns.

4. The last point (with the very helpful "sarcasm" tag)...where was that implied in the article?

Doesn't look like your title is accurate, either.

5. The very first line where it says white people have a legitimate reason to feel threatened.
Perhaps I'm reading it wrong, I'm not rulling that out. But the way it's WRITTEN seems a bit... strange.

Older white men have a legitimate reason to feel threatened?

6. Oh cry me a river
"This recession has taken a far larger share of jobs from older men, particularly white men, than earlier economic downturns." They're still ahead of everybody else!

California:
"Black men still have higher unemployment in California than Latino men, reaching 19.2% and 16.2%, respectively, last quarter. Joblessness among blacks has fluctuated during the recession, reaching a high of 21.2% for men in the first quarter, according to Austin's data."

"For the second quarter of this year, black unemployment is estimated at 15.3% -- slightly less than Latinos -- and white unemployment was 8.6%."
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-latino-jobless28-2009jul28,0,1355699.story

National:
"Among the major worker groups, unemployment rates...whites
(8.6 percent), blacks (14.5 percent), and Hispanics (12.3 percent)

were little changed in July..."
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

New England:
"In other regions, blacks have the highest jobless rates. But in Massachusetts and surrounding states, more Latinos are losing jobs. Latino men are worse off with 18 percent unemployment. Black men are at 15 percent, and white men have 8 percent unemployment."

7. Interesting that the ones most affected...
are those who are most likely to vote Republican. Karma, or coincidence? Actually, neither.
