I Won't Be Treated This Way Anymore!
For 8 years I (like many of you) was referred to as "lunatic fringe" by the media (amazing how many of those so-called reporters are now passing off what we screamed about for years as their "on top of it", revealing reporting.....yeah, right, bullshit). 8 years before that, Billy would snap a towel across our ass, be our buddy, tell us to get over so many things, handled us and gave the Repukes about everything they wanted on a silver platter.

And now comes health care reform........I will not be treated like a child again; I will not yawn and wait until the next fast talker comes along; I will not be manipulated and "handled". I'm in my 60's; I've been a liberal Dem all my life; and this time if the shell and pea game comes out again, I just want the Dems to know, I will just plain never vote again. It's becoming patently obvious after all these years that voting is becoming a laughable exercise. I'm sick of doing the work to get these people elected and then watching them down on their knees, licking "conservative" ass. While they are down there, they can ask those "conservatives" for their vote and their money (hope they are wearing rain gear so the spit doesn't run down their faces).

Health care insurers get upper hand
Obama's overhaul fight is being won by the industry, experts say. The end result may be a financial 'bonanza.'

By Tom Hamburger and Kim Geiger
August 24, 2009

Reporting from Washington - Lashed by liberals and threatened with more government regulation, the insurance industry nevertheless rallied its lobbying and grass-roots resources so successfully in the early stages of the health care overhaul deliberations that it is poised to reap a financial windfall.

The half-dozen leading overhaul proposals circulating in Congress would require all citizens to have health insurance, which would guarantee insurers tens of millions of new customers -- many of whom would get government subsidies to help pay the companies' premiums.

"It's a bonanza," said Robert Laszewski, a health insurance executive for 20 years who now tracks reform legislation as president of the consulting firm Health Policy and Strategy Associates Inc.

Some insurance company leaders continue to profess concern about the unpredictable course of President Obama's massive healthcare initiative, and they vigorously oppose elements of his agenda. But Laszewski said the industry's reaction to early negotiations boiled down to a single word: "Hallelujah!"

5. John Q.--it's not obscene
I'm afraid we are trending from really helping the uninsured and getting these greedy bastards off everyone's back to mandating that people who cannot afford a pot to piss in MUST take out an insurance policy with these pigs. Look where unregulated oil industry got us---the final push over the financial cliff. Once this is in the industry's back pocket they know they are golden for decades and everyone one of us will be drowning in mandatory payments to these people. Nothing like a new feudal system run by the insurance companies! If this is where the Dems are going then there is point blank no reason to vote for them...what the hell is the difference between this crap and rule by the wacko right wing?

9. the only thing missing is lorne green and cornell roberts
then it would be Bonanza.

I agree with the op because I'm sick of all the crap that gets shoved down our throats in the name of bipartisanship and working with the other side.

There is no other side, just 100 senators and a bunch of representatives looking for their next big score.

Peace

10. Is there any hope...
...that finally the Dems will see that the people who got them elected are not going to just sit by and then be all smiles come 2010 and 2012. Will the group in the House get the message through that THIS TIME they have to deal with the..gasp..liberals!!!

11. They all think the blame will fall on someone else
and they'll squeak by to victory. But if not, then they get to cash in as a industry lobbyist.

We need campaign finance reform and lobbying reform desperately before this country disappears down the drain forever.

They hope that if they stop healthcare reform, rank-and-file Democrats will become disinterested in the process.

Do you want to appease them?

14. You're right. There is no "next time."
Take care of yourself, your heart, your life and loved ones. We've given too many of our decades to trying to keep the country out of the ditch.

If Dems go along with Fascism Lite, you and I have better ways to spend our time. :hi:
