7. If they want to pay the costs of this show

rather than have it come out of taxpayer pockets, that's fine with me. It doesn't influence my decision to buy Shell gasoline one way or the other.

14. Is an oil company the only sponsor they could find? What does that say

about the Navy?

Ref: "wasting taxpayer money" the Navy has a marketing and PR budget too, for recruiting.

I think flying an oil company's flag is not patriotic. I think it defeats the purpose of making the Navy look good, and it underscores antiwar cynicism that Navy serves interests of big oil. Having a SEAL fly a Shell Oil flag can send a message that national interests are synonymous with, or subservient to, the interests of big oil.
