A Canadian's Health Care Story
Check out this take on the Canadian health care system. Note especially her one experience with American health care. Which would you rather have?

1. The argument I always get from Freepers is that since their cousin in Canada
doesn't like the healthcare system there means that Canadians do not like their healthcare system when what it really means is that the cousin doesn't like it.

Last time I checked, Canada has democracy where the people get to vote for their leaders. They are free to change their healthcare system to model ours if they like and could have done it decades ago, but they do not. Might that just be because the overwhelming majority of Canadians prefer their healthcare system to ours. Really, what other country would freely choose to switch their healthcare system to ours?

2. I don't believe they have those cousins either
My freeps suddenly have "Canadian friends." Funny they never mentioned those friends before.

methinks they are fictional Canadians.

3. Good column!
I learned something I did not know before reading it and that is: even WITH travel insurance, which NO Canadian should enter the US without, imo, if I were to need medical help in the US, I would have to deal with an HMO about something as simple as an ambulance call! Yikes.

Thanks for posting this, it was an interesting read.
