Is "The Family" being prosecuted ? or has the story been silenced ?
Last week were the reports on "The Family".

At the very least it seemed like the IRS would investigate them and all their affiliates.

I haven't read the book, but the interviews seem to have a lot of criminal activity or at least ethics violations by Congress members and Business.

I thought for sure more would be reported on Sen. Grassley and his ties to corruption and coup in Somalia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Family_(Christian_political_organization)

The organization has drawn criticism for its dominionist theology, including efforts to inject religious principles into every branch of the U.S. Government.<7>; ties to oppressive regimes and dictators<7>; concealment of associates' secrets, including the extramarital affairs of several U.S. elected officials;<16> and for officials' approving references to the Mafia<6>; Adolf Hitler<17>; 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden; and dictators such as Pol Pot.<18> Coe has said that the Family aims to create a worldwide "family of friends" by spreading the words of Jesus Christ to powerful men and women through "cell" leadership groups.<7> He and his followers teach that these elite, called the "new chosen," have been selected by God and must learn to wield power according to the divine plan.<12>

I thought that the "church" (House) would be raided and then shut down. But nothing but silence.

Here are some of the title's to the paragraphs.
* Link to terrorist activities and international money laundering scheme

* Affiliations with dictators and oppressive regimes

When you read through this simple Wikipedia, it is mind blowing.

2. Jeff Sharlet says there's lots more to come.
As Christian groups become aware of what it is that these folks believe, many are beginning to voice their disdain.

I posted Sharlets most recent lengthy radio interview on this thread-

3. Yes there is much more to come and it is not just christian groups
but even building a case takes time. And I am sure there is a case or two or three in there.

7. Sometimes I'm simply overwhelmed with...
...the amount of crap that needs to be dealt with. These groups have been allowed to persist for far too long.

8. Read the book.
A wiki article will never do it justice. I'm nearing the end, but it is a deeply disturbing book. It explains a lot of what is going on and how we got here.

I think that Sharlet's book should be required reading for all progressives. If you don't understand where these people are coming from and who they are, then you'll never be able to defeat them.

10. 'At the heart of the Family's spiritual advice for its proxies in Congress is
the conviction that the market's invisible hand represents the guidance of God,
and that God wants his "new chosen" to look out for one another.'<4>

'Fellowship leader Doug Coe urges a personal commitment to Jesus Christ that he compares to the blind devotion that Adolf Hitler demanded from his followers.<17> "Hitler, Goebbels and Himmler were three men. Think of the immense power these three men had, these nobodies from nowhere," Coe said in one videotaped 1989 sermon. "Jesus said, ‘You have to put me before other people. And you have to put me before yourself.' Hitler, that was the demand to be in the Nazi party. You have to put the Nazi party and its objectives ahead of your own life and ahead of other people."<17>

Coe, who has referred to the Fellowship as the "Christian Mafia", has said he tries to make the group act like the Mafia because invisibility bestows influence.<6>

The Family's attempts to influence government policies and politicians raises questions regarding the separation of church and state. Senator Mark Pryor said that the group had taught him that the separation of church and state was a sort of secular exaggeration: “Jesus did not come to bring peace. Jesus came to take over.”<6>
