I'm proud to say that I was more than instrumental in exposing Texas house representative ralph hall, that for more than a decade was nothing more than a republican that cowardly hid himself and porported himself as a democrat voting from almost his first day in congress straight down the line with the republicans in the house.

This sort of dishonesty is untouched by laws that would prevent such from happening....and this is the reason "we the people" should demand that laws preventing such dishonesty among politicians.

ralph hall couldn't even be labeled as a tergiversator because he never did represent his democrat constituency in anything that could be called a moderate much less liberal democrat manner....he was right wing all the way and was finally forced to declare himself as a republican and change his membership to that party. hall is also one of the main reasons, since he has been reelected in the same constituency area as a republican, that the vote machines in Texas are rigged...that is unless of course all those democrats in his constituency became tergiversators as well....and that I doubt more than very seriously. It's sort of like Texas, as a state, and well known as a democrat majority voter state as late as the early nineteen seventies, the vast majority of those democrat voters, all of a sudden in the same vote cycle, decided to go insane nixon lover and became republicans....if anyone believes that I have some beautiful inexpensive half acre lots for sale sixty miles out in the Texas Gulf.

Strong Presidential leadership would have gotten Harry Reid's weak ass snatched back into line the minute Baucus and crew tried to hijack the Senate portion of the bill. But, no, the President decided to let Congress--the most unpopular and untrustworthy bunch of politicians in America--come up with a workable health care reform package. Bad strategy.

The Blue Cross Dawgturds could have been brought into line with some well-placed arm-twisting, but it didn't happen and here we are now with our President waffling on what a public option is, or might be (who knows for sure because it seems to change in every speech), and whether it's the most important part of the reform package.

Just sayin'.

To create action. I'm trying to people angry because focused righteous anger is more helpful than despair. We need to light a fire under the health care bill (or lack thereof) and we can use Kennedy's death as the accelerent to affect change.

I believe Kennedy would support using his death as a means to the conclusion of his life's work, universal health care. In his death we may, as a party, go one of two ways. Either health care reform will crumble or it will soar. His death can be used as our rallying cry. We can succeed. Indeed, we must succeed. IMHO of course.

For the past several months, Congress has been debating healthcare reform. There is no doubt that our current healthcare system is inefficient and costly. It has been estimated that Americans are spending over 17% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on health related expenses. And these costs are growing exponentially – 4% above inflation on an annual basis. This is clearly an unsustainable path. I am working to play a constructive role in the healthcare debate as legislation is developed. I am fighting for a bill that contains costs, increases access to coverage, ensures patient choice, and does not add to the federal deficit.

H.R. 3200, America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009, has been introduced in the House of Representatives. Unfortunately, I feel that this bill in its current form does not do nearly enough to wring out all of the savings within the current system, bend the cost curve, or ensure patient choice. On the cost savings side, we specifically need to address waste and abuse in the system, unnecessarily high administrative costs, over utilization, and costly overhead.

H.R. 3200 was initially placed in three House Committees of jurisdiction. The bill has since been passed out of the Ways and Means, Education and Labor, and Energy and Commerce Committees. While the House healthcare bill was passed out of the three committees of jurisdiction with various changes, the Blue Dogs and I were successful in postponing consideration of the healthcare bill by the full House, and we did this to make sure that the legislation would be given ample time to be debated and hopefully significantly improved. Many leaders involved in this debate have focused on timing and working to push this bill through the legislative process. That is the wrong approach and the wrong goal. I will not adhere to arbitrary timelines. My only benchmark is getting healthcare reform right. We need to continue working – however long it takes – to develop a reform bill that represents a sustainable, responsible, and bipartisan approach to mend our broken healthcare system for the benefit of everyone, not just the uninsured.

With the good Senator gone, it clears the way for the corrupt health care industry, their lobbyists and their bought-and-paid-for Congress people to crush the will of 80% of the American public.

I can assure you that it will really, really suck if, for example, Blanche Lincoln here in Arkansas loses her seat. She may be more conservative than some Democratic Senators from other states, but when it comes to an up/down vote she helps bring the count up. And right now they're saying J. Random Republican is going to beat her in 2010. There are no other viable Democrats who would challenge her for her seat.

We need to be working to keep our majorities and expand them -- not see another 1994.
