I was terribly saddened to hear of the death of Ted Kennedy tonight. Given our political differences, people are sometimes surprised by how close Ronnie and I have been to the Kennedy family. But Ronnie and Ted could always find common ground, and they had great respect for one another. In recent years, Ted and I found our common ground in stem cell research, and I considered him an ally and a dear friend. I will miss him.

1. Class. Mrs. Reagan has class.
Clearly, some Republicans do (and some don't).

13. I think it's a stretch.....
to say Nancy Reagan has class just because of her recent kind words about Ted Kennedy. I can never forget what that vile woman and her horrible hubby did to this country and it's people. A broken clock is right twice a day, and this is one of these moments for Nancy. I can forgive her, but I will never forget the reprehensible policies she and Ronnie represented (and still represent to some).
Just my opinion. :hi:

2. George HW Bush weighed in too, no word from W yet
Barbara and I were deeply saddened to learn Ted Kennedy lost his valiant battle with cancer. While we didn't see eye-to-eye on many political issues through the years, I always respected his steadfast public service, so much so, in fact, that I invited him to my library in 2003 to receive the Bush Award for Excellence in Public Service. Ted Kennedy was a seminal figure in the United States Senate ? a leader who answered the call to duty for some 47 years, and whose death closes a remarkable chapter in that body's history.

12. with all the references constantly made about Ted's drinking ...
W sure got a free pass from the media ... still, they probably have to sober him up to get what would probably be a still incoherent statement ...

4. if/when Nancy goes (and i hope she has many more years in her)
i will never say anything bad about her. she has shown herself to be so classy. the way she was with Obama was just so sweet. she has shown herself to be classy by ignoring things like Obama's joke about her and instead speaking of things like stem cell research and .

she is probably who Ron and Patti took after in some ways. we might not have known it before but are seeing it now.

i also don't think she is just being classy here, but i think she does feel sad Ted Kennedy's loss.

5. I'll never agree with Nancy's politics but she does have a lot of class
and she knows better than anyone what it is like to watch a loved one live with a terminal illness.

6. Nancy has class
I believe that she's sincere in what she says about Teddy, she's a rarity, a republican with class and dignity.

9. Mrs. Reagan was quiet during Bush 42 ...
And she was decent and charitible towards Bill Clinton when he took his turn in the Oval Office.

It was quite obvious she disliked Bush 44 and the whole cadre of Neocon idiots ....

I have found her words quite generous towards the Democrats during these last ten years or so ....

Thanks for your grace, Ms. Reagan.
