Next week -- September 1st, 2009 -- California's 10th Congressional District will be holding a Special Election. A liberal Democrat, Ellen Tauscher, who resigned on June 26 to become the U.S. Undersecretary of State, held this seat before. But now, we have the chance to take this seat back for conservatives!

Why do we think we can win a seat that has recently trended Democrat?

SIMPLE: This is a special election. It is being held one week from today, as voters are thinking about the end of summer, and there are few major differences between the establishment candidates running. Local newspapers are reporting that turnout is expected to be low, and they are specifically saying that the winner is likely to be the one with the strongest get-out-the-vote drive.

In fact, based on the turnout for the May 2009 California Congressional Special election, the number of votes needed to win may be as low as 6,000 votes! Gary Clift has the chance to WIN because of that -- phone calls are his biggest advantage as his main opponent, the more "moderate" David Harmer, has raised more campaign funds... but has a very understaffed phonebank and volunteer base.
