I don't want to believe that many people are just yahoos.
People in any country, any century, any generation. Yet, my head tells me the evidence is that many people are, always were, and I guess always will be.

People who like to watch public executions, who think a child getting a beating (oops, I mean spanking :sarcasm: ) is hysterically funny, people who glory in seeing bad things happen to other people. People who love to watch animals fight as in cockfights, dogfights, etc.

People who are chronologically and mentally adults, but are too lazy to think deeply; it's easier just to think either/or, black/white, one/zero.

People who think that if they're fortunate, it's because of their efforts. If people outside their family are unfortunate, it's AUTOMATICALLY because they're sorry/lazy/made poor choices, etc.

In my heart I don't want to believe this. But my head keeps telling me it's true.

it seems the lesser of who we are is permeated in internet talk. it becomes visible almost tangent that the whole is that lower denomination. and it conditions all of us to accept this is just who we are. children at such a young age, trying to figure out who they are, are further handicapped because they dont have ability to look these people in eye, hear tone, see body language, see truth and dishonesty. and the further feeding and conditioning continues.

being on du, i have learned that even i, an adult not easily led have walked away from board shaking head, asking self if this is truly who we are as a people. yet then face to face i do not hear that same person. i have to get myself reality checks

children, without supervision, without someone to help ground and guide them are in a world of hurt

there are huge advantages to internet

there are huge disadvantages too
